? We're Hiring! Seeking a Qualified Consultant? CACFP Roundtable is launching a one-year project that seeks to build an engaged community of home-based child care providers who have a safe and proactive space to: discuss nutrition, health, and wellness; learn new skills related to successfully operating the CACFP in their child care settings; and advocate for local and statewide system change improvements to the CACFP. A wide variety of professional experiences could demonstrate a consultant’s ability to support our current project. We encourage applications from individuals who are eager to learn, self-driven and autonomous, quick to synthesize information, and enjoy working in collaboration with others. I am always reposting jobs (as long as they have salaries included) but now more than ever, I feel like this is the best way we can support the local federal workforce. If you live in the DMV and in an academic research hub like I do, I know it feels like everyone within arms reach is impacted right now. Yes it's scary and can feel like a time to turn inward towards self preservation. But I encourage you to repost, reshare, and spread opportunities. Community organizations and foundations that have diverse funding are still here, and when we all take care of each other we become more resilient. This might not pass, toxic positivity certainly doesn't help, but everyone can do something to fend off the catastrophic thinking that is lingering for so many of my former classmates and colleagues. Stay hopeful! Please repost positions that you find and encourage job seekers and organizations to be more considerate of everyone's time and energy at present.

With so many organizations losing their federal dollars, it is going to be more important than ever for private funders to ensure they are supporting a new cohort of organizations by increasing the reach of their RFP's, and also for non-profit and community based organizations to spend extra time diversifying their funding streams. What a difficult day to learn of such a loss. ECC is committed to continuing to serve organizations that work for reproductive justice, especially during this new administration. Cecile Richards provided a great legacy for our new generation of public health, policy, and SRH practitioners to emulate.

A new career and personal step that I have taken this calendar year is joining a non-profit board that is closely aligned with my first career focus: children's mental health and psychosocial care! I'm happy to be serving on the board of MH Boxes, and hope that you'll join me in supporting this new endeavor that provides mental health resources and support to Black girls throughout the DMV. ?? ?? Information about our upcoming day of giving below: "On August 28, 2024, MH Boxes will kick off Give 8/28 to raise money to ensure #BlackGirls are equipped with mental health resources that promote resilience and self-care. The fundraising day comes as Black-led and Black-benefitting organizations across the country participate in Give 8/28, a national day of giving hosted by the Young Black & Giving Back Institute. Give 8/28 is the only day of giving focused explicitly on highlighting the importance of Black-lednonprofit organizations, which receive only 2% of institutional philanthropy dollars from foundations. Give 828 seeks to galvanize support for organizations working at the grassroots level to empower Black communities in areas such as education and mentoring, economic empowerment, policy advocacy, health and wellness, and much more."
