Unfortunately, the traditional sleep care system is complex, expensive, and broken. So we decided to fix it. It's always a pleasure collaborating with doctors like Dr. Jordan Lipton who approach medicine holistically with an N-of-1 approach. Huge thanks for this thoughtful article!
Did you wake up tired today? Is it sometimes hard to believe you got a good night’s sleep? That’s likely because… you didn’t. It’s a common issue. Occasionally, all of us struggle to empower sleep. But when lack of sleep becomes a vicious cycle, it has ill effects. It increases stress hormones like cortisol, making you chronically irritable and anxious. Additionally, it can impair your decision-making abilities, and you might not function as well cognitively. If you’re anxious, depressed, bipolar, or have a stress disorder, finding good sleep is especially challenging. And when it does come, you may still toss and turn or awaken frequently. (Some people even experience hypersomnia, a tendency to sleep too much or doze off at inappropriate times.) #conciergemedicalpractice #conciergemedicine #conciergedoctor #sleeptips #sleepandexercise

I have mild sleep apnea. (along with ~936 million people globally) Despite optimizing my sleep routine using tools like the Oura Ring, I still noticed restless nights, even without apparent symptoms. This left me wondering—what was really going on? At a recent longevity conference, I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Sahil Chopra, MD and Sagar Chopra, the co-founders of Empower Sleep. They introduced me to their clinically validated sleep ring, a device designed to identify hidden sleep issues and patterns. Think of it as a portable sleep lab you can use at home—no bulky EEG headgear or sterile sleep clinics required. Curious, I decided to give it a try (check out my video for a deeper dive). The results were eye-opening. Empower Sleep revealed the underlying cause of my restless nights: frequent, asymptomatic oxygen desaturations caused by mild sleep apnea. This insight was a game-changer for me, especially given my family history. My father, a surgeon with poor sleep habits and moderate sleep apnea, developed early-onset dementia—something I’m determined to avoid. Now, with this newfound understanding, I’m taking proactive measures to address the underlying root causes and improve my long-term health. This device is simple, easy to use, and potentially life-changing. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to better understand their sleep patterns. Empower Sleep cc: The Well Home P.S. I have no affiliation with the company—just sharing my honest experience in the hopes it helps others. --- Let me know in the comments if you found this useful! Tired of insomnia treatments that don’t seem to work? It might be time to consider everything that affects your sleep. Small changes—like sticking to a bedtime, avoiding late-night activities, or cutting back on alcohol—can help. For many, CBT-I has proven to be the most effective treatment. In upcoming videos, we'll explain how it can work for you.
