This summer, Ashley spent her second year with Earn & Learn at Lad Lake, where she mentored and facilitated groups for kids. Deeply believing in Lad Lake's mission, Ashley appreciates the impactful work they do. "I like how they do things, and how the goal is really to help the kids," she shares. Lad Lake, a treatment center for kids, provides safety, specialized therapy, and skill-building for independence. Having been a resident there herself, Ashley understands the situations from which these kids come. Her personal experience at Lad Lake has fueled her passion for helping others. "This is something that I really like to do and want to do. I hope to run a treatment center one day. This experience really inspired what I want to do in the future." Ashley finds immense joy in helping the kids and witnessing their growth. "I love helping the kids and seeing them grow. I was here before, and I see a little bit of me in each kid," she says. Because she has been in their shoes, she feels a deep connection with them and strives to be a strong support system. Through her work at Lad Lake, Ashley has not only gained valuable experience but has also solidified her career aspirations. Her story exemplifies the transformative power of the Earn & Learn program, providing young people with opportunities to discover their passions and make a meaningful impact on their communities.
