It was a true honor to visit Savannah College of Art and Design’s Service Design graduate program last week. SungHan Kim, thank you for the invitation, the warm welcome, and the time we spent together. I had a wonderful time! Congratulations on the incredible work you and the faculty (Mauricio Manhaes, Ph.D., Matthias Hillner, and Kwela Sabine Hermanns) are doing. It was a pleasure to join your classes and share my perspective on design’s evolving role, along with examples of the work we do at Empathy. I left truly inspired by the students’ projects and our discussions on how design can drive meaningful impact in business and beyond. A special thank you to the students for your energy, curiosity, and for sharing your amazing work. Wishing you all the best. I am excited to see where your journeys take you! ?? #ServiceDesign #Innovation #SCAD #Empathy
"Martin's genuine appreciation for my students and their professional endeavors backstage truly warmed my heart." This week, I had the privilege of hosting Martin Zabaleta Empathy, a Strategy and Innovation guru, at SCAD's service design department for an inspiring exchange of ideas. Across multiple classes, we explored service design from a systems perspective, service metrics, value communication, prototyping, visualization, and systemic innovation. His innovative applications of design thinking to business challenges, accompanied by diverse examples, left a lasting impact on both my students and myself. Martin's genuine appreciation for my students and their professional endeavors backstage truly warmed my heart. His continuous compliments not only boosted the morale of my young innovators and strategists but also fueled my determination to go the extra mile in guiding them towards success. The discussions didn’t stop in the classroom. Faculty conversations with Martin on the evolving role of design in business and industry were equally thought-provoking, shaping how we prepare the next generation of designers. Grateful for this dynamic exchange of knowledge and inspiration. This was more than just a visit; it was a catalyst for innovation! Thank you for joining and sharing your thoughts as well: Mauricio Manhaes, Ph.D., Matthias Hillner, and Kwela Sabine Hermanns. #servicedesign #scad #empathy #From_a_hammer_to_a_toolkit #innovators #strategists #tango

At the same time, the "???????????????????? ?????????????? ??????????????" proposed by this model were implemented with the goal of fostering the development of an innovation culture within the company, creating the right conditions to encourage participation across all areas and teams. Empathy supported Vista by facilitating initiatives such as the Vista Innovation Sprints, based on the Design Sprint methodology developed by Google Ventures, which integrates elements of strategy, innovation, behavioral science, and design thinking. The adoption of this agile approach allowed multidisciplinary teams to tackle Vista’s most significant challenges with the goal of exploring innovative solutions, accelerating learning without requiring large resource commitments or excessive time investment. Additionally, various initiatives were implemented to manage knowledge, provide access to the latest industry trends, develop skills and behaviors that foster innovation, and recognize those contributing to the consolidation of Vista's innovation culture. The cultural actions proposed by Empathy enable Vista’s teams to adopt a disruptive approach to problem-solving, develop new capabilities, and integrate methodologies that allow the company to explore diverse solutions with a meaningful impact on business objectives.

Our team collaborated closely with the client's leadership team to define strategies, structures, processes, tools, and capabilities needed to develop impactful solutions and nurture a culture of innovation. To begin with, we categorized different types of innovation, from incremental improvements to breakthrough ideas, to create a shared language for the entire company. We also introduced new roles to manage innovation efforts, enabling the organization to concentrate on initiatives aligned with its strategic goals and having the greatest potential for success. This new structure has resulted in a more agile and successful organization, with a robust portfolio of prioritized projects. Moreover, we designed an innovation process that encourages exploration and experimentation, allowing the company to explore new opportunities and experiment with potential solutions.
