Are you measuring your target audience's alpha, beta, and theta brainwaves? You should be. They're crucial for understanding marketing's long-term impact. Engagement rates, CTRs, and dwell times are important metrics in ad experimentation, but they can't reliably track if your campaigns will create lasting memories that boost brand recall across the ~95% of your audience who aren't ready to buy this quarter (or next quarter). Just because someone clicked an ad, then viewed a blog, landing page, or solution page, and then (most likely) didn't fill out a lead gen form, it doesn't mean they'll remember you when they're ready to buy. Even if it happens more than once. As marketers, we need metrics that show if our campaigns trigger the *right* kind of brain activity: ?? Alpha waves show up when people are calm and open to new ideas—great for emotional resonance. ?? Beta waves signal active thinking and focus, meaning your ad is engaging viewers’ critical thinking. ?? Theta waves are tied to deep emotions and memory, indicating your ad might be triggering subconscious feelings. Imagine these measurements as leading indicators in your campaign performance dashboard. (See the third image below.) Using EEG (electroencephalography) headsets to track alpha, beta, and theta brainwaves is changing the game for marketers. It lets us dive deep into the subconscious. (The place where buying decisions get made.) And it's relatively inexpensive now. This is one of the missing components in campaign tracking, so I'm taking the dive and getting EMOTIV's EPOC headset to measure my own brain activity in response to ads I come across on social media. I'll regularly report back with top and bottom performing ads (along with the approach to my experiments). Once I understand the software my goal is to eventually take requests and help companies prioritize/select messaging concepts for campaigns. Stay tuned! ?

Just attended the OpenAI Forum on Music is Math to join in the discussion of the exploration of sound, science, and creativity with COO of EMOTIV, Kim O.. It was truly thought-provoking! The discussion reinforced how AI helps creativity by unlocking new ways to compose, analyze, and experience music to bridge the gap between two seemingly different fields. What struck me most was the deep connection between Math & Music which require logic and structure yet thrive on intuition and emotion. It’s a perfect example of using both sides of the brain to create something extraordinary. This was on full display as the brain activity of one of the participants wearing the EMOTIV Epoch device was captured in real-time and broadcasted on the screen while listening to a piece of music generated by AI.
