In this post, I am sharing a tactical guide to fortify data security in health tech systems where AI agents are used, because patient trust starts with ironclad protection. 1. ?????????? ??????????????-????-???????????? ???????? ???????????????????????? ?????????????? - Use techniques like?homomorphic encryption?to process data while it’s encrypted, minimizing exposure. - Integrate differential privacy in AI training to anonymize datasets without compromising analytical value. 2. ???????? ?????????? ???????????????????????? (??????) ?????? ???? ?????????????????? - Treat every AI query as a potential threat. Enforce strict identity verification, micro-segmentation, and least-privilege access controls. - Example: Use behavioral biometrics to authenticate AI agents accessing EHRs. 3. ?????????????????? ???????????? ???????????????? ?????? ????-???????????????? ?????????? - Map attack vectors unique to AI: model poisoning, adversarial attacks, or inference attacks exposing sensitive data. - Conduct red-team exercises simulating scenarios like “How could a malicious actor reverse-engineer patient data from model outputs?” 4. ?????????? ?????????? ???????????????????????? - Log every AI interaction with blockchain-backed audit trails to prevent tampering. Critical for compliance (HIPAA, GDPR) and tracing breaches. 5. ?????????????????? ???????????????? ???????? ???????????? ?????????????????????? - Train AI models on decentralized data (e.g., across hospitals) without raw data leaving local servers. - Combine with secure multi-party computation (SMPC) to aggregate insights while keeping data siloed. 6. ????????-???????? ???????? ?????????????? & ?????????????????? ???????? - Dynamically mask PHI in AI inputs/outputs using context-aware algorithms. - For testing, generate synthetic datasets mirroring real patient data patterns but with zero actual PHI. 7. ?????????????? ?????????????????????????? ???????????????????? ???????????????? - Partner with white-hat hackers to stress-test AI systems. Reward discoveries (e.g., “bug bounties”) to close gaps before exploits occur. #HealthTechSecurity #AIAgentsInHealthcare #PHIProtection

I met 100+ HealthTech founders at ViVE , and I was amazed to find a common agreement among at least 90% of them. As I reviewed my meeting notes from last week’s ViVE event, I realized that in 90% conversations, the core focus was “AI in healthcare.” HERE’S WHAT THEY SHARED (SUMMARY): “AI will revolutionize diagnosis and reduce costs—if we can just scale faster.”? “Regulations like the FDA are slowing AI innovation. We need to move fast.”? “Patients don’t understand AI’s benefits. It’s an education problem.”? “App stores are flooded with unapproved AI tools. It’s a Wild West out there.”? ? ONE-LINE SUMMARY OF MY “AI IN HEALTHCARE” CONVERSATIONS AT VIVE: AI adoption in healthcare is slow, and everyone has their own reasons for it. After reflecting on it deeply, I believe what’s truly holding AI back in healthcare is TRUST. Not technical limitations. Not regulatory hurdles. Not even patient education. Even when I studied some researches it suggests that two-thirds of patients distrust AI in healthcare.?? ? But why?? ? I think because health systems and startups keep prioritizing speed over safety, scale over accountability, and innovation over inclusion. Patients aren’t naive—they’ve been burned by bias, data breaches, and a system that often treats them as afterthoughts. ? MY TAKE: THE WAY FORWARD AI won’t work in healthcare until we rebuild trust. Here’s how: - Co-design with patients, not for them. Involve diverse communities in AI development—early. No more “build it and they’ll come.”? - Stop hiding behind ‘FDA-approved.’ Thousands of unregulated apps already exist. Hold yourselves to higher standards than regulators demand.? - Transparency isn’t optional. Show patients how AI decisions are made—in language they understand. No black boxes.? - Address systemic harm first. AI amplifies existing biases. Fix discrimination in today’s system before automating tomorrow’s. The bottom line? AI’s potential is real, but until founders stop dismissing distrust as a “PR problem” and start addressing it as a design flaw, adoption will keep hitting walls. P.S. If your AI strategy doesn’t include “trust” as KPI #1, you’re already behind.?

For healthcare startup founders, the decision between using an EHR aggregator or investing in custom EHR integration is critical. Both have pros and cons, but the real decision-making lies in understanding your business goals, scalability needs, and how you handle data exchange. Here’s a quick guide that will help you make the right decision based on your unique needs.?

7 Unsexy (But Brutally Effective) Ways to Build a Healthcare Product Without Funding On the second day of the Arab Health event, I met the founder of a California-based healthcare startup with a chronic care management product for cardiac patients. He had a clear vision for growth, and I was impressed by his plans—until he said something that didn’t sit well with me: he said “We’re stuck because we haven’t secured funding yet.” He wasn’t alone. Over the years, I’ve met countless healthcare startups with groundbreaking ideas and a mission to transform patient care. But one recurring theme stands out: “We can’t move forward without funding.” Having worked closely with early-stage healthcare startups as their development partner, I’ve seen firsthand how over-reliance on funding can stall innovation. The truth? Funding accelerates growth, but it’s not the only way to build a sustainable business. Here’s how you can thrive without waiting for a check: Practical Tips to Succeed Without External Funding 1. Leverage Partnerships? Collaborate with hospitals, clinics, or NGOs who need your solution. Offer equity-free partnerships in exchange for data-sharing, co-development, or testimonials. (Pro tip: Many institutions?want?to support innovators but don’t know how!) 2. Bootstrapping ≠ Compromising? Cut costs creatively:? - Use open-source tools for software development. - Outsource development and non-core tasks (e.g., regulatory support) to fractional experts.? - Barter services (e.g., offer your platform to a hospital in exchange for access to their clinicians). 3. Pre-Revenue Validation? Build a waitlist, secure LOIs (Letters of Intent), or pre-sell subscriptions. In healthcare, stakeholders like insurers or pharma companies often pay upfront for solutions that reduce costs or improve outcomes. 4. Regulatory Agility? Instead of waiting for full FDA/CE clearance, launch in markets with lighter regulations (e.g., some MENA countries) to generate revenue and refine your product. 5. Focus on Traction, Not Perfection? Iterate fast. A functional MVP (Minimum Viable Product) that solves 80% of the problem is better than a “perfect” product stuck in development.?Example:?One of our partners launched a telemedicine tool for rural areas with just SMS capabilities—no app needed. It’s now used by 50+ clinics. 6. Turn Your Team into Superheroes? Cross-train your team to wear multiple hats. A developer who understands clinical workflows or a clinician who learns basic coding can drive efficiency far beyond what funding alone achieves. 7. Start Small, Prove Big (if you are still contemplating startup idea)? Focus on a niche problem you can solve?immediately?with minimal resources. For example: Pilot your solution in one clinic or hospital. Use real-world results to attract partners or early adopters. In healthcare, proof of impact trumps theoretical scalability.
