A recent publication from researchers Invicro and UC San Diego in the Journal of Molecular Imaging and Biology explores the use of intravenously delivered multi-spectral Cryo-Fluorescence Tomography (CFT) for high-resolution, three-dimensional whole-body tracer imaging in murine inflammation models. CFT was shown as an effective and complementary methodology to in vivo imaging for validating PFC nanoemulsion biodistribution at high spatial localization, bridging the resolution gap between in vivo imaging and histology. The high resolution and sensitivity from 3D Cryo-Fluorescence Tomography (CFT) enables researchers to visualize both on- and off-target AAV-mediated protein expression in whole animals. This image shows AAV9-GFP expression on day 15 following IV injection. No expression was show in the control, and the liver is the major organ where GFP expression occurred. Upon further analysis, CFT identified signal in the DRG's and heart which is consistent with AAV9 tropism.
