The Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC) conducted an informative #HalalAcademyProgramme training on accreditation requirements based on GSO UAE.S 2055-2:2021 and the application of UAE.S 993:2022, focusing on Halal Animal Slaughtering Requirements. The session aimed to enhance awareness and implementation, ensuring a consistent Halal meat certification process that upholds proper standards. ? As part of EIAC’s ongoing commitment to supporting the global Halal industry, the training fostered knowledge-sharing and promoted uniformity in compliance. The Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC) hosted the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC) training on ISO/IEC 20000-6:?Information Technology — Service Management- Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of service management systems in Dubai on 3rd February to 5th?February 2025. Staff and assessors of various APAC members accreditation bodies attended the training. Mr. Abdulla AlMarzooqi of Certification Bodies Accreditation Department of EIAC welcomed all delegates. He also thanked APAC for arranging the training courses in Dubai. As the year draws to a close, the Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC) proudly reflects on a year of remarkable achievements. These include new recognitions at both international and regional levels, highlighted by the addition of new scopes under the ARAC MLA. Notably, EIAC has achieved the distinction of accrediting the largest number of Halal Conformity Assessment Bodies worldwide in accordance with OIC/SMIIC standards. This achievement establishes a robust quality infrastructure to support international recognition for Halal certification and related conformity assessment activities, fostering trust in global Halal products and industries. The EIAC also actively participated in the annual meetings of the ARAB Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC) and the Islamic Forum for Halal Accreditation Bodies (IFHAB), both held recently in the holy city of Makkah Al-Mukarramah,?KSA. The Emirates International Accreditation Center (#EIAC) continues to enhance its collaboration with the global accreditation community and experts. This year, our experts and delegation actively participated in the International Accreditation Forum (#IAF) and International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (#ILAC) Joint Annual Meetings in Berlin, contributing to various committees, and working groups. At the executive level, EIAC's CEO, Amina Ahmed Mohammed, represented the Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC) the ILAC executive committee, IAF-ILAC Joint Executive Committee. Additionally, Mohammad AbdelMotagaly, ARAC Technical Committee Chairman, and Qasim Alshamsi, ARAC Capacity Building Chairman, presented the region updates and best practices in accreditation for ARAC’s regional accreditation bodies to ILAC-AIC, IC, IAF-TC, and JDC. This international event provided an excellent opportunity to reconnect with colleagues from the world of accreditation and conformity assessment sectors, promoting the exchange of experiences and best practices. Discussions also centered on how EIAC’s bilateral agreements and collaborations can benefit local and regional conformity assessment bodies and contribute positively to #trade. The Future of Accreditation On October 9, 2024, a significant milestone in the global unification of accreditation efforts was reached with the launch of the First General Assembly of the Global Accreditation Cooperation (#GLOBAC). EIAC’s delegation, led by Amina Ahmed Mohammed, joined ILAC and IAF members in approving the GLOBAC Constitution and General Rules. This marks a historic moment, bringing together decades of work to unify global accreditation organizations, and signaling the official launch of GLOBAC and its important role in the field. GLOBAC is poised to become a leading international umbrella organization, with the broadest reach in conformity assessment and accreditation. It will work closely with major global entities such as the United Nations (#UN), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (#UNIDO), World Health Organization (#WHO), World Trade Organization (#WTO), and standards bodies including the International Organization for Standardization (#ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (#IEC).
