?? Giving Back at Emerald Communities: Heron's Key Food Drive ?? At Emerald Communities, giving back is at the heart of who we are. Across our campuses, residents and team members are dedicated to making a difference in meaningful ways. One recent example is the Heron's Key food drive, supporting Food Backpacks 4 Kids, a local organization ensuring no child goes hungry. Since 2009, they’ve provided over 1.5 million pounds of food to children in need, with students taking home backpacks ?? filled with nutritious food each week. This initiative was organized by our resident-led Gig Harbor Community Volunteers Group, with a fun friendly competition between residents and staff to see who could contribute the most! The generosity and enthusiasm displayed by our community were truly inspiring. A huge thank you to our volunteers for leading this effort and making an impact. Together, we’re making a difference—one backpack at a time! ??

With resident-led interest groups and a robust calendar of events, our communities offer countless opportunities to stay active, informed, and connected. A standout this month is the Lifelong Learning group at Heron's Key, bringing in top-tier speakers to lead thought-provoking discussions: ?? UW professor Chris Damaske, Ph.D., leading an insightful series on hate speech and its impact on society. ?? Scholar David Fenner, joining us next week for the launch of the Great Decisions Series, produced by the Foreign Policy Association, where residents will explore global affairs and critical policy issues. Providing intellectually enriching opportunities is key to fostering a thriving, engaged community. We are continually inspired by our residents—their curiosity, passion for learning, and excitement for this chapter of life remind us that the pursuit of knowledge has no age limit.
