MICROSOFT TO DISCONTINUE SKYPE IN MAY 2025 In 2011 Microsoft Corporation acquired Skype for $8.5 Billion dollars from Nordic Entrepreneurs. Skype, founded in 2003 was widely used as the Go-To video conference system for business. After it's acquisition, Skype began to lose market share to native smartphone apps such Whatsapp, Facetime, and Facebook Messenger as well as its rival Zoom. Microsoft announced today that its once popular video conferencing system will be no more as of May 2025. Microsoft will be discontinuing the product on May 5 of this year and will replace its with Microsoft Teams product. Organizations that have not already transitioned to Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or a replacement product need not worry. Our company, Informa Co, has many years of experience working with a variety of telecommunications products like Microsoft Teams and stand ready to assist your company to seamlessly transition your system to a new product. This year the parent company that I founded and which owns Informa Co celebrates it's 25th anniversary. We have provided high quality IT services to this community over that time and look forward to working with you to assist with your transition. Reach out to us at (805) 687-8074 or send us a message. We are excited to work with you!

For our customers in the water industry, three significant breaches have occurred over the last three weeks with a Russian hacking group claiming responsibility. HR 7922 aims to establish a new governing body to develop and enforce cybersecurity policies. Don't forget, agencies are required to form a cyber risk assessment by next year. Contact us for more details. (800) 773-9016.
Cybersecurity threats impact water companies of all sizes. As such, the water sector must proactively oversee and seek ways to mitigate cybersecurity risk. NAWC is proud to join forces with #AWWA in advancing congressional legislation to form a Water Risk and Resilience Organization (WRRO). H.R. 7922, would establish a new governing body to develop and enforce cybersecurity requirements for the entire drinking water and wastewater systems here in U.S. Through this type of collaborative approach, cyber risk regulations and expectations for compliance will only strengthen over time. The scale and rigor of water grid attacks have only strengthened our commitment to robust training, investment and collaboration with the U.S. intelligence community. Special thanks to Congressmen Rick Crawford (AR-01) and John Duarte (CA-13) for introducing H.R. 7922. This legislation is a dramatic step forward in bolstering water grid cybersecurity compliance. #cybersecurity #naruc #epa #congress
