Savannah River Site Manager Mike Budney presented outgoing SRNL Laboratory Director Vahid Majidi with a Secretary of Energy Exceptional Service Award for his contributions to the U.S. Department of Energy and Savannah River National Laboratory. Majidi’s exemplary efforts and exceptional leadership was key to SRNL’s success through a period of significant change and growth, becoming an independent Federally Funded Research and Development Center with enhanced ability to provide objective analysis and advice to the government across its wide array of technological and scientific expertise. After seven years leading SRNL, Vahid reflects on how SRNL puts science to work serving the country in the most recent Science at Work podcast. With experience in the areas of chemistry, measurement science and technology, national and homeland security, science and technology policy, and nuclear nonproliferation, Vahid reflects on what it means to be a national laboratory and why they are good for America.
