It’s always rewarding to see a project come to life and make a lasting impact on the community. When Ft. Eisenhower needed to replace an aging spillway structure at Big Beaver Lake, they turned to EMC for engineering expertise, flood modeling, and construction phase services. The Challenge: A deteriorating spillway and outlet system required an upgraded design to regulate water levels, reduce flood risk, and meet project requirements from Ft. Eisenhower’s Directorate of Public Works. Our Solution: ? Surveyed & analyzed the existing dam and spillway structure ? Conducted a drainage study of the 390-acre basin to determine peak flow rates for 10-, 25-, 50-, and 100-year storm events ? Designed a new spillway and outlet pipe system using HEC-HMS & HEC-RAS modeling ? Developed construction plans and technical specifications, successfully permitted through Ft. Eisenhower DPW & Augusta-Richmond County ? Provided construction phase services, including submittal reviews, as-built surveys, and record drawings The Outcome: A resilient, properly engineered spillway system that improves flood control, ensures regulatory compliance and enhances infrastructure longevity—delivered on time and without any construction claims. ??
