📣 NEW REPORT! EMA and APMdigest have released a new OpenTelemetry insights report based on insights from 400 respondents to examine the perception, adoption, usage, and future of OpenTelemetry. 💡 A few takeaways: ➞ 𝗢𝗧𝗲𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: 61% believe OpenTelemetry is a very important or critical enabler of observability. ➞ 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗢𝗧𝗲𝗹'𝘀 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: Almost everyone surveyed (98.7%) express support for where OpenTelemetry is heading — a very strong vote of confidence. ➞ 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀: After reduced MTTR, the top three benefits that OpenTelemetry helps observability teams deliver are all improvements in user experience: customer experience (26.7%), employee experience (24.6%), and mobile experience (21.7%). ➞ 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗢𝗧𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗨𝗠: 27% of respondents would like to see OpenTelemetry support RUM data types ➞ 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝗧𝗲𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲: Greater mobile observability integration correlates with higher maturity levels ⭐ Embrace is a proud sponsor of this report, and will soon be releasing a special mobile OTel and real-user monitoring breakout report with even more detailed data from the EMA survey.
