Another Swiss company leading the way for the Swiss apprenticeship model in the U.S. is Acutronic Group. Acutronic is a global market leader in high-performance motion simulation and test equipment for the aerospace industry. In 2024, the company inaugurated its new Aerospace Components Division Headquarters in Texas and launched the Acutronic Apprenticeship Alliance, a first of its kind program which is registered by the U.S. Department of Labor. Nolan is a Swiss graduate apprentice from Canton Vaud in Switzerland. He recently completed his apprenticeship degree in Culinary Arts and is now doing a 6 month- internship in the U.S. as part of the NextStep program. On November 18th, Nolan traded in his day job at the Residence of the Swiss Ambassador to speak at the opening of the 10th National Apprenticeship Week (NAW). Here is what he had to say about it “I had the great privilege to be invited as one of 5 panelists for the Apprentice Trailblazer Recognition Event at the White House. Being able to meet Julie Su, Acting Secretary of the U.S Department of Labor, as well as other trailblazers and apprentices from the U.S. was really eye opening. It was a great experience to hear how much it meant for them to promote apprenticeships and be part of a registered apprenticeship, and how that changed their lives for the better. Coming from Switzerland, registered apprenticeships are already established: those who did an apprenticeship know the value of that education and how well it prepares a person for the professional world. In 2016, the Zurich North America Apprenticeship program became the first of its kind to be certified by the U.S. Department of Labor. They were recognized as an Apprenticeship Ambassador company in 2022. The celebration of #NationalApprenticeshipWeek continues: Today we are showcasing, Stadler US, a Swiss company with a rich 75-year history in train manufacturing. Recently, Stadler expanded its facility in Salt Lake City and introduced an apprenticeship program inspired by the Swiss model — TRAC (Talent Ready Apprenticeship Connection). The TRAC at Stadler is a 3-year program, offering vocational training in an Automatic Electrical Technician or Production Technician role. ?????????????
