In 2021 EMA, Inc.’s Heather Haskell partnered with Erin Nelson from ALTATERRA CONSULTING LLC to create an online, interactive mapping and dashboard app for the City of Kirkland to make information about stream and watershed health accessible to community members and to raise awareness of water quality issues. Project work included: -Migrating and improving Kirkland's yearly PDF stream health report card to a fully interactive and informative website -Building the site using Esri's ArcGIS Hub collaboration platform, Esri Dashboards and Web Maps, and spatial data hosted in the ArcGIS Online cloud The project team also included Julie Burke from GA Creative and John Burshek from Burshek Research & Consulting, who provided usability recommendations and ran focus groups to gather community feedback on the website and dashboards. The website went live in May 2023, and the City of Kirkland has been receiving positive feedback from water quality professionals in the Seattle, WA area. And now ... the project has won first place in NAFSMA (National Association of Flood and Stormwater Management Agencies)'s Excellence in Communication - Water Quality award!
