Hey writers, here’s your chance to segway into the gaming industry! From character development to immersive world-building, you’ll learn to create compelling narratives that leave players craving for more. Here’s what some of our former students have said: ?“I've learned to be more concise in my writing without losing any quality of the story. I edited past pieces so they could meet a standard good enough to be featured in my portfolio.” - Eric Nhem ?“The course is well-paced and the resources given are quite plentiful both during the lesson and on the slides. The assignments were challenging if you were new to a particular concept (ie screenwriting) but not only was there value in the exercise, there was great value in getting feedback from professionals.” - Janelle Bawayan ?“The class was worth every moment, and it was so amazing to connect with like-minded, passionate people who want to tell stories.” - Jinx Leepack ?“As someone with a screenwriting background who has loved gaming as a medium, I've been curious for a long time about how the writing process applies to game design…I now have a strong sense of how that's done, with portfolio pieces to back it up.” - James O'hara Our next cohorts start soon:? ?? Video Game Writing ???? taught by Lorne Nudel – Oct 22? https://lnkd.in/d5QEgxSW ?? Become a Game Writer ???? taught by Adrian R. – Oct 29 https://lnkd.in/d3M3_Y6a Are you game to start writing?)

Each month, over 50k people ask Google, "Am I depressed?", says Semrush. With 59 million Americans living with mental illness (National Council on Aging) and half of all mental health issues beginning by age 14 (NAMI), it's clear that mental health deserves our attention daily—not just on #MentalHealthDay. The Covid-19 pandemic caused depressive symptoms to grow by 28%, and for many, managing stress is an ongoing challenge. In fact, 45% of U.S. college students report experiencing “more than average” stress, according to The American Institute of Stress. ??And remember, it’s absolutely OK: To take a break when you need to recharge. Rest is not a luxury; it’s essential for your well-being. To not be productive 24/7. Your worth is not defined by your output. To say no and put your mental health first. To have tough days—nobody has it all figured out. At ELVTR, we prioritize creating a positive learning environment where mental health comes first. You're part of a community that understands the importance of balance and will support you through the challenges. If you’re ever in need of support, remember: we’ve got your back. This #MentalHealthDay, prioritize yourself. Mental health is a daily practice, not a yearly reminder.

Hello Friends! Another solo project I’ve been working on is called Chromassist, an augmented reality app designed to assist individuals with color blindness. Special thanks to Ajay Menon at ELVTR for guiding us through the UX design process for Mixed Reality systems (and to Maxwell Mendoza for being colorblind haha ??). Check out the demo of my first prototype, built in Bezi, attached below. Excited to continue pushing the boundaries of AR technology! P.S. this totally was an excuse for me to justify buying a Meta Quest 3 #AugmentedReality #AR #ColorBlindness #AssistiveTech #CreativeTech #Innovation

For #WorldTeachersDay, our ELVTR instructors shared a piece of advice they wish they’d received at the start of their career journey. Here’s what they said: Duc Haba, AI Solution Architect “Like most techies, I grew up an introvert, flying solo. But if I could advise my younger self, it would be this: don’t shy away from friends, digital or otherwise. Some of my best ideas and breakthroughs came from the very conversations I once feared. Turns out, connecting is not only fun but where real learning happens.” Adam Dolin, Game Writing & Advanced Game Writing “As you work towards your goals, keep striving to improve yourself and your craft. Treat everyone around you with kindness and respect, and apologize when you inevitably falter. And most importantly, know that the failures and setbacks you're going to face are just opportunities to learn.” Ajay Menon, User Experience Design for AR/VR “Be curious. Ask as many questions as possible, whenever you can, in every possible situation. There are no stupid questions, but only the danger of not learning anything new.” James Hurst, AI-Aided Graphic Design “The key piece of advice I’d give myself: Always play.” To our incredible instructors: We are honored to work with such experts. It’s inspiring to watch you take on the role of educators sharing your knowledge with the next generation. We appreciate everything you do! #ELVTRinstructors?#worldteachersday?#teachersareheroes?#celebrateteachers #onlineeducation #teachersday

I’m not scared of AI. Because I’m making it my friend not my enemy. Curious exploration is my strategy. I’m taking a 12-week “AI-Aided Graphic Design” course at the moment with Sabrina Godden-Tuma (she’s great, by the way) and I bloody love it. It teaches me to play around with AI inquisitively — don’t get me wrong, the outcome often looks wacky and weird, but I’ll keep playing so we get to know each other. I’ll learn the hacks, let it feed my brain, and laugh about it — until we have more advanced versions of AI tools that spit out the level of quality I’m happy with. A prime example of wackiness is this image… my first assignment for the AI course, focused on the automation of creative processes with AI. [Disclaimer: the journey was key, not the outcome and it has no deeper meaning whatsoever.] The tools I used were: Midjourney, Adobe Express, Khroma. The course: AI-Aided Graphic Design ELVTR

In today’s fast-paced world, finding moments of joy—also known as “glimmers”—can help enhance both personal well-being and professional performance. But how do these small moments impact your career and productivity? ??Glimmers vs. Triggers in the Workplace Glimmers are those tiny moments that bring peace and happiness—like a walk in nature or enjoying a coffee break. On the other hand, triggers are stimuli that provoke negative emotions such as fear, anxiety, or stress, which can directly impact your job performance. According to research by the American Psychological Association, workplace stress costs U.S. companies around $300 billion annually due to absenteeism, diminished productivity, and employee turnover. Incorporating small moments of joy can help mitigate these stressors. Why Glimmers Matter for Productivity: Boost Mood: A study from Harvard Business Review found that employees who experience positive emotions during the workday are 31% more productive. Reduce Stress: A study by Stanford University School of Medicine shows that practicing mindfulness, such as meditation, can reduce stress by up to 30%. Enhance Performance: The American Psychology Association found that experiencing positive emotions like joy can improve employee performance and well-being. ?Simple Glimmers to Save Your Day Here are some ways to bring glimmers into your daily routine, whether you're working from home or the office: - Take 5 minutes to sit in the sun - Enjoy a coffee or tea break - Listen to your favorite music - Take a short walk in nature - Have a moment of mindfulness or meditation Incorporating Glimmers into Your Work Life Practice Mindfulness: Be fully present during small breaks. Start a Joy Journal: Record moments that uplift your mood during the day. Savor Simple Moments: Appreciate the small things, like enjoying a hot drink or a quiet pause between tasks. Share Positivity: Acknowledge and share positive moments with your team to build a supportive environment. Create Rituals: Build small joy-based routines, such as morning stretches or afternoon coffee breaks. By integrating #glimmers into your day, you can improve your mental well-being, increase productivity, and foster a more positive workplace culture. What glimmer will save your day today? Let us know in the comments. #Productivity #WorkLifeBalance #MentalHealth #Mindfulness #ProfessionalGrowth #ELVTR
