ELO2 is working on the Australian Space Agency's Moon To Mars Initiative: Trailblazer Program, vying to build and launch Australia's first lunar rover, Roo-ver, on a NASA mission later this decade. The Trailblazer Program will truly be Australia's boldest adventure yet and, to help the nation succeed on this historic journey, ELO? plans to engage a crew of over 100 talented Australians in Stage 2 of this program.
The Trailblazer mission will need to draw on the skills and knowledge of people from STEM and non-STEM backgrounds: systems, electrical, mechanical, software, remote operations and thermal engineers, scientists and researchers, project managers, coordinators, administrators, manufacturing technicians, educators, communicators, business development and commercialisation specialists, governance and risk professionals, business managers, and more.
This diverse cohort of team members will gain exposure to highly sophisticated R&D, manufacturing and commercialisation activities, their expertise will evolve, and new globally competitive skills will be cultivated.
The world-leading R&D ELO? undertook during Stage 1 of the Trailblazer Program already attracted top technical talent from around the world to come to, and return to, Australia - Stage 2 activities are set not only to enhance Australia’s expertise in lunar exploration, but also to catalyse growth in Earth-based industries, fostering national economic development and job creation in Australia.
Trailblazer will also showcase Australia at the forefront of emerging technologies in autonomous robotic systems, invigorating Australia's industrial landscape and propelling the nation into a hub of robotic innovation and production.
