It's National Apprenticeship Week! This week celebrates the value of Registered Apprenticeships in building a skilled workforce, creating career pathways, and strengthening our economy. At the DU Family of Companies, we’re proud of our Fire Alarm System Technician (FAST) Apprenticeship Program. This 4-year, U.S. Department of Labor-registered program combines 8,000 hours of hands-on learning and instruction to train future Journeyperson Fire Alarm System Technicians, including skills in intrusion detection, security cameras, and access control systems. The program recently celebrated the graduation of its first four-year class of technicians, a testament to the power of apprenticeships to transform lives and industries. Want to learn more about FAST? Contact Paul Akins ([email protected]) or Jason Ashlaw ([email protected]). #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #LifeSafetyCareers #Apprenticeships https://loom.ly/mQ5HqiM

?? Strengthening Connections and Building Skills! ?? Our team had an incredible time at the DU Family of Companies Inspection & Service Sales & Leadership Summit! Leaders and sales professionals came together to connect, share insights, and elevate our service standards. We gained valuable strategies during engaging sessions with the TribusAllen, Inc.'s Strategy Consulting team and learned great sales info from Brian Benedict and Matt Strassner. It was inspiring to see the power of our combined knowledge and teamwork! We’re excited to bring back new ideas and a stronger sense of community to our branch. Huge thanks to everyone who made this event possible! #ProfessionalGrowth #FireProtection

?? Heroes Among Us ! ?? When you're part of the fire protection world, the job doesn’t end when you clock out. Just ask Jonathan Rosario, one of our incredible team members! On his way home, Jonathan witnessed a car accident—and without hesitation, he jumped into action when he saw one of the vehicles catch fire. Equipped with a fire extinguisher from his truck, he quickly put out the flames, helping prevent a bad situation from becoming worse. His quick thinking and readiness reflect the heart of our commitment to safety and preparedness. Thanks to training, education, and our Safety Days, Jonathan was able to act quickly and effectively—truly embodying the around-the-clock dedication of our fire protection family. We couldn’t be prouder to have someone like Jonathan on our team. And yes, he even called afterward to let us know he owed us an extinguisher! ???? Don't worry, Jonathan, this one's on us. Thank you, Jonathan, for being a true hero both on and off the clock. ?? #EllisFirePride #SafetyFirst #EverydayHeroes

A tribute to Steve Ulmer... Golden Sprinkler Lifetime Achievement Award from NFSA
Steve Ulmer?Receives the National Fire Sprinkler Association's Highest Award. Recently, at the May 2024 NFSA Annual Seminar and Business & Leadership Conference in Maui, Hawaii,?Steve Ulmer, former President of Davis-Ulmer Fire Protection and current acting Senior Vice President of APi Group, was awarded NFSA's highest honor, The Golden Sprinkler Award. This achievement, presented annually to one individual dedicated to advancing the fire sprinkler industry, highlights?Steve Ulmer's deep commitment to leadership and excellence and reflects his career in the fire industry. Founded by?Steve Ulmer's grandfather, Herman Ulmer, and later led by his father, Robert Ulmer, Davis-Ulmer Fire Protection has remained a family-owned company for three generations. In 1972,?Steve Ulmer?began his career as an apprentice before becoming a fitter by age 21, spending eight years in the field. In 1981, Steve moved from the field to the office, becoming Vice President of Sales and Executive Vice President in 1983. Eventually, he succeeded his father as President of the company in 1987. Under Steve's guidance, Davis-Ulmer expanded again to open the Rochester branch in 1988 and another office in the Corning area in 1990. Steve Ulmer's influence extends beyond Davis-Ulmer. As the current Senior Vice President of APi Group, he continues to lead with the same passion and dedication that earned him the Golden Sprinkler Award. His leadership has been instrumental in driving the growth and innovation of the Davis-Ulmer Family of Companies and APi Group, inspiring others in the industry to strive for excellence. Today, Steve is still very much connected to the Davis-Ulmer Buffalo office—it holds a special place in his heart. Steve's nephew Jake, a 669 Sprinkler Fitter in the Buffalo branch, marks the fourth generation in the Davis-Ulmer Family. Steve resides in the Western New York area with his beautiful wife Betsy of 35 years, his daughter Kerry and son Nick, and their five beautiful grandchildren. As we reflect on?Steve Ulmer's remarkable journey and the success of the recent conference, we are filled with deep gratitude for his significant contributions to the fire safety industry. His dedication, collaboration, and innovation have propelled the industry forward, and we are inspired to continue in his footsteps. Let us strive to emulate his dedication, continuing to collaborate and innovate, and together, propel the industry forward. Congratulations, Steve! #goldensprinkleraward #lifetimeachievement #firesafety
