Enhanced software for court case management and land & vital records storage will soon benefit Ellis County’s District & County courts, District & County clerks, Constable offices, and Justice of the Peace courts. Commissioners recently voted to engage Berry Dunn and Equivant, an accounting/consulting firm and a software developer, respectively, to migrate an immense amount of data from current software systems into a new, cloud-based service. This I.T. project concludes a give-year study first conducted by a committee analyzing case management systems for Ellis County in 2019. “Our goal is to make Ellis County government services as efficient and convenient for the citizens as possible,” said County Judge Todd Little. “This new software network will enhance interoperability between these offices while also enhancing information security and creating much-needed efficiency.” #interoperability #courtcasemanager #vitalrecords #cloudbasedsoftware

Financial Transparency: The Ellis County Fiscal Year 2025 Adopted Budget is now available online at https://lnkd.in/gSj9Vwr7. The FY25 budget prioritizes law enforcement remuneration, judicial system enhancements, and construction projects of the Emerging Ellis 2050 Strategic Plan. “As always, we strive to maintain high standards of service for our constituents as we enter an exciting period of population growth and development here in Ellis County. It’s Constitution Day! On this day in 1787, the Founding Fathers of the United States signed the first codified constitution of any national government in the world. As the oldest national constitution that remains in effect today, the United States Constitution is worthy of being carefully studied. A few key principles make our national compact uniquely suited to preserving the liberties of the American people: enumerated powers, separation of powers, and the Bill of Rights. The Government of the United States does not hold plenary authority, but may only exercise powers specifically delegated to it. This power is then separated into three co-equal branches of government – the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial – so that no single governmental institution holds complete authority to create, enforce, and adjudicate policy. Lastly, the Bill of Rights lists specific reserved rights of the states and the people that cannot be infringed, even if the enumerated powers of the Federal Government become construed. Every elected or appointed official, member of the armed forces, and law enforcement officer in the United States swears an oath to defend the Constitution. More importantly, it is the civic duty of every citizen in the United States to understand the Constitution and its underlying principles. The tragic events that unfolded twenty-three years ago will be forever embedded in the common memory of Americans, but September 11th also resonates with Americans in reverence for the heroes who emerged that day. In their honor, Congress passed Public Law 107-89 to designate every September 11th as “Patriot Day.” On September 11th, 2001, Americans witnessed true patriotism. Though anyone can claim to be a patriot, far fewer individuals can claim to have demonstrated it through their heroic actions. On Patriot Day, we honor all those who have risked their lives in defense of their fellow citizens – both at home, and abroad. In memory of the brave patriots who gave their lives on September 11th, 2001, and in reverence for all those who have served or are currently serving to protect the lives and liberty of their fellow citizens, we salute you. From you comes the glory of our nation, and to you belongs the honor of Patriot Day. #PatriotDay #September11th
