Hello! My name is Monique, and I am a compassionate and experienced Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC Associate), supervised by Dr. Shawna Corley. I hold a Master of Education in Counseling from the University of Houston-Victoria. With over two decades of experience in leadership, social services, case management, education, business, and counseling, I help clients navigate challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, life transitions, and relationship struggles. I offer therapy for individuals, couples, and families, working with children (5-12) and adults (18+). If you’re feeling stuck or seeking support to become your best self, I’m here to guide you through what’s holding you back, heal, and reconnect with your authentic self. My approach is eclectic and practical, incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), faith-based principles and more. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can truly be yourself, working through life’s challenges with confidence. During therapy, I’ll be your sounding board, coach, and cheerleader, helping you tackle challenges and take meaningful steps toward your goals. When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me enjoying time with my family, traveling, discovering new places near to eat and always learning along the way. Let’s connect and see how therapy can help you unlock your best self.

  • This year's theme is Caring & Sharing! Participate by doing an extra part in caring! Step 1: Think: What is something you found helpful or inspiring recently? It could be a new idea, quote, image, podcast, article, book or place. Step 2: Care: Who is someone you care about who might benefit from it too? Choose a friend, family member, colleague, neighbour or someone you’ve not seen for a while. Step 3: Share: How will you get in touch to share it with them today? Send a text, share on a messaging app, leave a voice note, give them a call, or pop around to say Hello! #internationaldayofhappiness2025 #mentalhealth

Seeking help isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s an act of strength and love. ?? Let’s break the stigma and normalize mental health support for kids—because their well-being matters just as much as their physical health. A strong mind builds a strong future! ?? When someone says something along the lines of, "I don't need a therapist, I talk to my friends". As a therapist I would say, "That's wonderful that you have friends you can share important things with! But, a relationship with a therapist is so much different than that." Here are some of the ways: 1. Therapists are trained to listen deeply and with empathy. Even a friend who is also a therapist may struggle with this (see below). 2. Therapists don't give you advice or tell you what they think (not in the way that a friend would). 3. Therapists don't have a personal relationship with you already, so they are not biased like a friend would be. 4. Therapists typically don't know anyone you know, also leading to less bias. 5. Therapists won't just say, "That's terrible, I wouldn't put up with that." They'll listen and empathize, but also challenge you on your part. 6. Therapists are bound by law to keep your confidentiality. They could lose their license and their livelihood for sharing your information with anyone. 7. Therapists are trained to recognize mental health issues, relational problems, substance abuse issues or addictions, and more. They can educate you on these things if you or someone you know may have an issue. 8. Therapists are trained to handle the various ways a client may show up to a session. They won't take offense like a friend might if you're angry or having a difficult time. 9. Though therapists don't give advice per se, they can help you decide how to deal with all kinds of situations. Friends can give good advice, but not always (see above). 10. Therapists are trained and experienced in hearing all kinds of things. There isn't much you can say that will surprise, stump, or shock a therapist. Can anyone name any other ways a relationship with a therapist differs from one with a friend?

  • ?? Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Today, we’re celebrating luck, laughter, and a little bit of Irish charm! But beyond the green outfits and shamrocks, let’s also take a moment to appreciate the power of community, kindness, and mental well-being. Just like the four-leaf clover symbolizes hope, faith, love, and luck, may today remind us to seek joy in the little things, support each other, and take care of our minds & hearts. Wishing you a day filled with good vibes, great company, and maybe even a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! #HappyStPatricksDay #LuckyToHaveYou #MentalWellnessMatters
