We're thrilled to announce our participation in this year's Clear The Shelters campaign, hosted by NBCUniversal, in conjunction with hundreds of rescues nationwide! From August 10th to September 10th, we will be offering reduced fees on all adoptions, as well as special open hours for approved adopters. While our goal in joining this year's campaign is certainly to increase the number of cats making it to their forever homes, our deepest wish is that our longest term residents find loving homes by the end of it. The Gifford Shelter is a cageless, no-kill facility founded in 1884 through the collaboration of philanthropist Ellen Gifford and prominent Bostonian Nathan Appleton. We are the oldest cageless, no-kill animal shelter in the United States! Mission Statement The mission of Gifford Cat Shelter is to provide a safe haven for abandoned, stray, abused, neglected, unwanted and injured cats with the goal of re-homing and ending the needless killing of community and companion cats.
