While in Phoenix, AZ each winter, I love being on the lookout for local gems that would make for a perfect issue of Short & Sweet. So when I walked into the brand new Phoenix sports bar “Title 9”, I immediately knew that’s exactly what this was! So if it’s just a sports bar, what’s so special about it? One very simple thing, something that separates it from all other sports bars out there. It’s a women’s sports bar. Yeah, you heard me right. Ever heard of one of those? Me neither! And it occurred to me, this is a perfect example of why having a niche business can work in your favor. Consider it. Are the following statements not all true? 1. If you’re a woman and you love sports but hate traditional sports bars, you are going to check this place out. 2. If you’re a women’s sports enthusiast, you’ll be SO excited about this new bar you’ll even drive 45 min to go there. 3. If you have any women in your life who love sports, you will definitely tell them about this place. True, true, true! I have a feeling this business is going to do well. Not to mention, they also did a stellar job of decorating the interior in alignment with their brand. Their bathroom walls were covered in inspirational quotes from female athletes. There was also a wall of trophies featuring women figurines, and photos of women athletes in action all over the walls. Do you have a niche in your business? Are you considering niching down more now or in the future? Although it’s not necessarily the right move for every business, there are many perks to serving a smaller niche of people than simply the general public. Food for thought ?? Your customers want to SEE themselves in your images! This is the importance of inclusivity. Case in point: speaking as a female consumer, I am so done with brands that only feature stick-thin models in their photos. I am much more likely to purchase from a brand that features women of all shapes, sizes, and colors. What can you do to diversify the demographic featured in your images?
