November is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month. There are different types of homeless experiences, and one of the most common is transitional housing. There are about 1,500 EGUSD students in those situations. This video introduces you to one of them, a student enrolled at Valley High School. In EGUSD, the SAFE program provides resources to students and families. Please call (916) 681-7577 if you or someone you know needs help. #EGUSD #ElkGrove #homeless

关于我们
The Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) is an award-winning district, known for its commitment to academic excellence and learning for all students. The district is the fifth largest school district in California and the largest in Northern California, serving more than 62,000 students representing 88 different languages spoken. The district has 67 schools (42 elementary schools, 9 middle schools, 9 high schools, 7 alternative schools including an adult education school) covering 320 square miles within the City of Elk Grove, the City of Sacramento, the City of Rancho Cordova and the unincorporated area of Sacramento County. The district’s rich history reaches beyond unification and into the 19th century. The elementary school district known as “Elk Grove” was formed in 1866 and is one of the oldest in the state of California. The Elk Grove Union High School District followed almost 30 years later, opening in 1893. The unification of the Elk Grove district took place in 1959. Why Do We Do What We Do? We strive to prepare our students to be college and career ready upon graduation by ensuring that every student is learning in every classroom in every subject every day.

Wellness Counselor, Christina Strother at Valley High School, had a vision for the overgrown garden behind her office. When Strother heard about the Root Community Garden Program, a partnership between the Sacramento Kings and Raley's, she reached out. After filling out the application and a quick tour of the space, the project was approved! Strother showed us around the renovated garden and is so proud of how everything came together. #EGUSD #youbelonghere #elkgrove #valleyhighschool #sacramento

Elk Grove Unified recognizes the month of October as National Bullying Prevention Month, a month-long event to prevent childhood bullying and promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. EGUSD supports the rights of students and staff to attend schools that are safe and free from violence, harassment, bullying, and discrimination. Providing a safe school environment that ensures both the physical and emotional safety of students and staff creates the conditions necessary to foster academic achievement. The most effective approach to creating safe school environments requires a comprehensive, coordinated effort including school-wide, district-wide, and community-wide strategies where all institutions, organizations, and individuals must accept responsibility for their critical roles and collaborate to establish a positive environment for teaching and learning.
