We had our onsite inspections perform for AFAC certification today and passed with flying colors!! AFAC is the Mexican equivalent to the FAA here in the USA!! This will allow us to widen our customer based to the Mexican registered aircraft and giving us an opportunity to network where we’ve never been!! Team is on the road helping a client with cracks found during X-Ray inspection on a LJ60 12 Yr Insp!! Here is a little information on why X-Rays are used - Radiography is a non-destructive testing (NDT) method that uses X-rays to inspect the internal and external components of aerospace materials, structures, and assemblies. It’s a reliable and accurate way to identify defects like cracks, voids, and porosity in both metallic and nonmetallic materials. As you can see major access to key areas allows an NDT vendor to perform X-Ray inspection to find these anomalies. Making sure aircraft hit their target inspection dates is vital to keeping the aircraft airworthy and from minor issues becoming major hindrance to flight safety. Catching cracks early also keeps cost down.
