This holiday season, shop local and support our instructors by checking out our shopping guide here: https://lnkd.in/d2PUU6GN Today we’re highlighting Jerel Dye's cartoon and illustration work. Much of his art stems from a deep interest in science and technology, though it frequently also contains a healthy dose of wonder. He has been creating art and comics since 2005. Beyond his standalone drawings, Jerel has produced dozens of self-published mini comics and created comics stories for anthologies such as Inbound, Minimum Paige, Hellbound, and the award-winning Little Nemo/Winsor McCay tribute Dream Another Dream. Jerel has also illustrated two graphic novels; Pigs Might Fly in 2017, and Einstein in 2022, listed as one of the top 10 graphic novels of the year by ALA Booklist. In 2012, he received the MICE comics grant for his mini-comic From the Clouds.

Inspiring lifelong learning in craft and creativity for all
关于我们
The Eliot School inspires lifelong learning in crafts and creativity for all. It sends artisans and artists into classrooms throughout Boston, teaching young people in schools and community centers. It also offers classes for all ages in its Jamaica Plain schoolhouse and annex. These classes, in woodworking and furniture, sewing and fashion, fiber arts, book arts, painting, drawing, photography and mixed media, reach people of all ages and all walks of life. A teen program, annual Artist in Residence program, occasional talks, exhibitions, and other events round out the program. Founded as a grammar school in 1676, the Eliot School turned its focus in the late 19th century to the manual arts. It is known for its excellent faculty, welcoming atmosphere, extensive youth programming, and small class size.

Do you have a passion for teen arts education and community engagement? Then you have just five more days to apply to do both as our 2026 Artist in Residence! Our annual artist residency involves collaborating with the talented youth of our teen bridge program to create public art that engages with the greater Boston community. The suggested themes for the 2026 residency are "joy as an act of resistance" and "liberated communities." We are accepting project proposals through next Sunday, December 1, so apply ASAP here: https://lnkd.in/eYq_7ECM Photo by Craig Bailey Perspective Photo The Eliot School Artist in Residence and Teen Bridge programs are funded in part by Mass Cultural Council’s YouthReach program, BPS Arts Expansion Fund at EdVestors, and City of Boston Office of Youth Employment & Opportunity SuccessLink Employment Program; with general support from the Barr Klarman Massachusetts Arts Initiative; Mass Cultural Council’s Cultural Investment Portfolio; and the LINDE FAMILY FOUNDATION.
