?? At Elimu-Soko, we're driving systems change by partnering with governments to identify and address critical needs in public education. In Zanzibar, the focus was on empowering teachers through coaching—and the results are incredible! In just six months, Elimu-Soko’s teacher coaching program in Zanzibar delivered remarkable results: 45% of students started meeting math standards, 34% of students started meeting reading standards, and the quality of education improved for over 20,000 students! This transformative initiative was made possible by our collaboration with Axum, TeachUNITED, Hempel Foundation, and the Zanzibar Ministry of Education and Vocational Training. ?? In November, we published a blog with the Education Finance Network where we reviewed the Elimu Soko project in Rwanda, as a good case study of initiatives by non-state actors that was successfully integrated into govt education system & now scaling. In this month's edition of our Africa Learning Together podcast, ADEA's Chinedu Anarado and Casper Thaning Thulstrup of Hempel Foundation discussed the best practices for govt adoption, integration & scaling of non-state actor interventions in improving Education Systems in sub-Saharan Africa, leveraging this blog on Elimu Soko in Rwanda. Hempel Foundation worked with Rising Academy Network in Rwanda and Dalberg to design and implement the Elimu Soko initiative in partnership with the Ministry of Education Rwanda. Elimu-Soko Zanzibar is an initiative implemented in partnership between the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, Dalberg Implement, Hempel Foundation, and Axum, that seeks to serve as a stimulant for innovative solutions in the public education system. Through this initiative, the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar is committed to co-designing innovative solutions with education entrepreneurs like TeachUNITED, enabling their success through effective policy and procurement procedures, and providing them with technical expertise and financing to scale.
