The cost of electricity in the US continues to rise. But, what’s under-reported is that these costs are shifting from the supply side of the bill (power generation) to the T&D side (power delivery). If customers want to decrease their bills, they now have to think about how and when they consume power in addition to the mix of the generation and it’s cost. The complexity of consumption will only increase with time and customers with large demand profiles will consider more options for optimizing procurement and how they use power. #electricity #energytransition #solar #batterystorage

Not Your Grandma's EM&V: I'll be moderating a panel next Tuesday, February 5, at the California Efficiency + Demand Management Council 2025 Evaluation, Measurement and Verification (EM&V) Forum: https://lnkd.in/gr79xSry The event is at the beautiful David Brower Center in Berkeley, CA. The panel is entitled "Load Flexibility: Revisiting Impact Assessment and Settlement" (1:45 - 2:45 PM), but "revisiting" is too mild a word. #loadflexibility is the key to unlocking a carbon-free grid, and the M&V techniques that work on energy efficiency and demand response are barely a starting point for the world of continuous control of DERs and smart buildings today. Join me and the esteemed panel of Ken Agnew, Kadir Bedir, PhD, and Steven Lanzisera as we take on this critical topic. Sure, this panel may be the highlight, but the whole agenda is stacked. I'm looking forward to catching up with Olivia Patterson, Sharyn Barata and other colleagues at the event. Elexity will bring our ideas to the table, and I hope to see the Southern California Edison (SCE), Pacific Gas and Electric Company, and SDG&E folks from the various #loadflexibility pilots out in force at this event, with the California Energy Commission and California Public Utilities Commission teams ready to take some bold actions.
