关于我们
https://linktr.ee/elevated_chi Elevated Chicago promotes racial equity, prosperity and resiliency in Chicago communities by using equitable transit-oriented development – or ETOD – as the catalyst for change. Led by a collaborative of nonprofit, public and private organizations, Elevated Chicago aims to turn the ?-mile around transit stations into racially equitable centers for climate resiliency, health and culture. Our work is guided by the core principles of adaptability, impact, inclusion, innovation and transparency. By enabling community-driven development, Elevated Chicago will position station areas as civic assets where programming and the built environment converge to create nodes of opportunity and connection across the region’s vast transit system. Our work began around seven Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) or ehubs. But today, ETOD is everywhere in Chicago, and we've expanded from seven eHubs to nearly two dozen Elevated Chicago Plus communities. Our ETOD Working Group helped create the City of Chicago's first ETOD Policy Plan. We've helped to award grants to create 11 ETOD Policy Plan demonstration projects. And our programs that include the Equitable Development Ambassadors, the J.E.D.I. (Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) cohort with the Metropolitan Planning Council, and our annual symposium are inviting more and more people to understand and advocate for ETOD. Join us in using ETOD as a significant tool for Chicago's recovery from the crises of 2020.

Two weeks ago, Elevated Chicago got the chance to attend the #RibbonCutting for 2811 W Fulton St, an ETOD in #GarfieldPark that received Elevated Works technical assistance. This building rehab transformed a 100-year-old gear factory into office space for four small businesses: Chicago Printworks, direction tour marketing, Studio inHaus, and FlightFX. Micah Taylor, president of Chicago Printworks and direction tour marketing, spoke about their reasons for choosing this location above others in the city — namely, the proximity to #PublicTransit for their staff (both those within the city and those in the suburbs). The building is close to the Chicago Transit Authority California Green Line station, the #94 bus, and the Kedzie Metra Commuter Rail station. Employees also have the option to bike and use the indoor bike rack or drive and utilize street parking. Elevated Chicago Steering Committee member Mike Tomas of Garfield Park Community Council gave the crowd additional context about the importance of bringing ETOD to the neighborhood and establishing strong retail corridors near the Green Line. Finally, Alderman walter burnett did the honors of cutting the ribbon, welcoming this exciting new project to the neighborhood! 2811 W Fulton is just one of many ETODs that are in progress or completed in Garfield Park. One of the benefits of #ETOD and expanded transit routes throughout the city? More equitable access to Chicago's amenities and attractions, from retail corridors full of local stores and restaurants to the many theatres and museums downtown. Elevated Chicago returned to Mpact this year for their 2024 conference in Philadelphia. This time, we supported our friends from Elevated Works by attending their panel, "Tales from Two Cities: Empowering Communities with Resources to Achieve ETOD." Panelists were Melissa Cerezo, AICP, Adriano Rothschild, Jessica Nepomiachi, and Phillip L Beckham III. Emily Laflamme served as moderator. The panel included three discussions focused on redefining "the developer," funding #ETOD, and technical assistance. #Conference #Transit #UrbanDevelopment #Mobility

#ETOD alert ??: Four new small businesses opened yesterday in a newly rehabbed building near the California Green Line station in East Garfield Park. Locating near a CTA train station and major CTA bus line means customers, staff, and community members are all better connected to these businesses via public transit. Congratulations to Laarni Livings and Micah Taylor on opening your doors! This project received a 2023 ETOD grant from the City of Chicago and is also a part of the Elevated Works program, which provides free technical assistance to ETOD developers, facilitated by Elevated Chicago ETOD, Metropolitan Planning Council, Center for Neighborhood Technology, Illinois Facilities Fund, and Rudd Resources LLC. https://lnkd.in/gnk9Vpq2

Equitable development leads to more housing and more affordability. Deconversions do the opposite, and the Northwest Side Housing Preservation Ordinance rightfully discourages them. Read our Executive Director Juan Sebastian A.' take on what detractors get wrong about the bill and what equitable development can actually look like in these neighborhoods and across the city.
