Give them an easy-to-navigate pane that buckets report pages by function When an organization wants cross-functional/open access to reporting in one location, I've found that breaking out pages in this way helps remove a barrier to entry (feeling overwhelmed) to increase adoption. In this example, I've got reporting for both the Sales and Operations departments available to toggle between. With some basic bookmarks implemented, you get a sleek web-like experience that's easy to update and maintain should more pages need to be added in the future. You had me at, “I built this entirely with native #PowerBI visuals.” You lost me at, “Now we create our 6th helper measure and 4th disconnected table...” How do you assess when the effort is worth the outcome while creating custom report visuals? I know PBI Core Visuals have a clear roadmap for where they're going and enhancements will be ongoing, but my personal philosophy is to create a robust, single semantic model that can be utilized across Sales, Marketing, Ops, Finance, etc., so adding a number of disconnected tables and additional measures feels like I'm cluttering up my end-product for clients. I am in NO way bashing those coming up with the creative solutions (kudos to all ??), but it ultimately gives me pause as to how often I should jump at the chance to add a slick new visual element. Have you ever considered the impact that visual titles and subtitles can have on report viewers? It allows you to 1. ground end-users on key dimensions or facts in scope of the visual 2. minimized risk of misinterpreting the visual should it be copy/pasted from the broader page 3. callout key results to ensure end-users are “reading” the same story This is an example of how I’ve helped #beer #wholesalers keep an eye on Perfect Deliveries within their operations. While this strategy can certainly be more time consuming in the report creation process, it’s one that I’ve found to be invaluable for creating greater #dataviz clarity.
