Greenberg Traurig's Orlando office recently sponsored "A Day of Law" for Elevate Orlando students from Colonial, Evans, Oak Ridge, and Jones High Schools. #GTOrlando arranged a tour of the Orange County Courthouse (including a mock trial before the Honorable Judge Mikaela Nix-Walker), and later hosted a lunch & learn for the students in our office. Shareholder Kimberly Mello and Associate Frank Montes de Oca participated in a panel discussion moderated by Co-Managing Shareholder Jonathan Perry, who proudly serves on the board of directors for Elevate Orlando. Each participant shared their respective experiences and insights on navigating law school and life as an attorney. Associate Darryl Harris also participated in a Q&A discussion at the event, connecting with students, and sharing his perspective. At the conclusion of the luncheon, GT presented Elevate Orlando with a $15,000 check to sponsor Elevate Orlando’s 16th annual “Vision Breakfast,” to be held Feb. 26. A few days before Christmas I had the wonderful opportunity of watching my dad Gary Player play in the PNC championship with my son, Alex. Equally as special was having the opportunity to visit an inner city school in a Orlando and see the incredible difference Elevate USA is making in youth’s lives and in the classrooms across America. I will always treasure this moment with these remarkable youth. What an incredible year it has been! This year, ELEVATE proudly celebrated 15 years of making a difference in the lives of urban youth. From the graduation of our first class at Evans High School in 2009 to reaching over 2,000 students across 17 OCPS schools, the strides we’ve made are truly remarkable.
