??? We’re excited to share highlights from the 2024 Elevate Children Funders Group AGM, held this past June in Nairobi, Kenya! This gathering was a pivotal moment for ECFG, with funders, young leaders, and community changemakers coming together to explore the powerful synchronicities that drive our collective impact for children. We truly are "better together"! We invite you to dive into our AGM microsite, where you’ll find detailed summaries, insightful videos, and valuable resources that capture the essence of our gathering. Throughout our time together, we engaged in meaningful discussions that centered around youth empowerment and the urgent need to shift the landscape of philanthropy. With inspiring contributions from the Youth for Impactful Philanthropy (YIP) Fellows and collaborative sessions with the Global Early Childhood Funders (GECF), we fostered connections that will carry our mission forward. Whether you were with us in Nairobi or in spirit, let’s continue the dialogue and take collective action toward a more just and equitable future for all children. ?? 关于我们
Elevate Children Funders Group is a global consortium of philanthropic organizations committed to advancing philanthropy in support of youth facing adversity. Our mission is to elevate the importance of investing in children and youth as a primary means of achieving sustainable human, social and economic development, all of which are critical to furthering global human rights, peace and security. As a platform for raising the philanthropic field through shared best practices, elevated grantcraft and pooled efforts, ECFG works on the premise that it is “better together” and that the sum of the parts can drive greater sustainable change than the work of individual foundations in any given field. Please note: All insights, views, and resources shared are done so in an effort to offer diverse perspectives and information to ECFG members and partners. Posts do not necessarily represent the views of any member organization.

? "For the community of ‘What’s Possible’ funders who are suspending the urge to order the young people’s steps on this journey, the youth collaborators will be their partners, their scholars, and their disruptors. Donors will build the stamina and resilience to act on their learning in long-term sustainable ways, and make meaningful shifts in their practices, their institutions, and the children’s rights sector." ?? ?? ?? Our partners in developing the ECFG Decolonizing Child & Youth Philanthropy Framework (https://lnkd.in/e9nv49qi) at Adeso recently wrote about the role of remittances in locally-led development. This came up during our Annual General Meeting in Nairobi earlier this year (See what you missed here: https://lnkd.in/g3WgWqBp), at the plenary 'Building Bridges with Philanthropy Rooted in the Global South'. ?? ?? Read this personal story from Adeso below, and ?? watch the ECFG AGM Plenary 'Building Bridges with Philanthropy Rooted in the Global South' to learn more: https://lnkd.in/efTjNUjj.
Please read Is-Haaq Ali's personal story connecting real life with remittances. Is-Haaq has joined Adeso as our Digital Communications Intern, his decade-long experience working in the remittances world has helped catalyse our team's thinking with making remittances more strategic and impactful in locally-led solutions. "The potential for us to harness remittances lies in their ability to complement and amplify these funds, turning individual contributions into broader community benefits. At Adeso, we want to be a part of the solution for helping make remittances more strategic.?We are building tools and thinking of innovative financing mechanisms to get money more directly to communities and organisations in the Global South with the greatest impact."

?? Congratulations to ECFG member African Visionary Fund who co-hosted 'Stories of Local Leadership' at UNGA last week, showcasing stories of innovation from remarkable African changemakers. ?? These stories echoed the need for philanthropy to invest in local organizations, those strongly connected to their communities, and to foster trust-based relationships for long-term sustainable impact. ?? #trustbasedphilanthropy #shiftthepower #LocalLeadership #UNGA #UNGA2024 #Changemakers #Innovation #AVF #ECFG #ElevateChildren
It’s been one week since we hosted our unforgettable UNGA Week event, Stories of Local Leadership, alongside Rippleworks and Food For Education. Building on last year’s Fireside Chat, we heard from remarkable African changemakers who shared powerful stories of innovation, triumph, and the lessons they’ve learned along the way. This evening meant so much to us, providing a space to connect on a deeper level and to hear impact stories not just through numbers. For us, this was a dream collaboration. A special thank you to our moderators, Doug Galen and Atti Worku, and to Katie Bunten-Wamaru for her welcoming remarks. Our gratitude also goes to our esteemed panelists: Wawira Njiru (Food 4 Education) Linda Kamau (AkiraChix) Lizzie Kiama (This Ability) Jacques Sebisaho, MD, MPA (Armani Global Works) Katumba James S. (Wezesha Impact) A simple yet profound takeaway from this ongoing conversation is that investing in local organizations, those strongly connected to their communities, and fostering trust-based relationships is key to sustainable, long-term impact. We look forward to sharing more insights from the event, and we extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us! #LocalLeadership #UNGA #Changemakers #GlobalCommunity
