Tune in to this information packed interview where EMSNOW speaks with Victor Meijers, Sr. Vice President of the Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA), the group that drives TrustedParts.com, the component platform for the authorized channel. Victor explains the many tools now available on TrustedParts to make supply chain managers’ lives easier: the Bill of Materials (BOM) tool that allows you to upload up to 1000 part numbers, and set up customized alerts for trends in pricing, lead time, overall supply chain risk, and much more. Global authorized distributors populate the platform with inventory to allow a holistic view of the BOM. The conversation also covers what’s coming for the platform, including cutting edge component data like carbon footprint, and a discussion of the challenge of managing obsolescence. Victor urges the EMS community to use the authorized channel to avoid risk of counterfeit and/or damaged components finding their way into electronic products.

ECIA Announces 2024 Distinguished Service Award Recipients The following six individuals have received unanimous and enthusiastic approval from ECIA's Board of Directors for the 2024 ECIA Distinguished Service Award: Alan Ahern?- Alan served for five years as the chair of the Manufacturers’ Rep council and an ECIA Board member until he hit his term limit at the end of 2023. Under Alan's leadership, the Council took on many valuable and practical projects around conducting effective business reviews, training channel partners, and the creation of cross CRM communication tools. Alan passed the leadership torch of the Council to Adam Grigor but remains a strong contributor. Fred Bell?- Fred has been an ECIA Board and Manufacturer Council member for many years and was the mastermind behind SPARK, the industry training curriculum for the next generation of high potential employees. Dawn Manhart?– Throughout her roles at Littlefuse and Knowles, Dawn has invested more than 10 years on the GIPC and served as former chairperson, sharing her perspectives on effective channel management. In 2024, Dawn was elected to the ECIA Manufacturer Council. Josiah Haas?- Josiah is a fourth-generation leader of Bud Industries. His father Blair previously served as our ECIA Board chair. Josiah is a member of our Manufacturer Council and served as Chair of our ECIA Marketing Committee for many years. Chris Wadsworth?- Chris has been a long time Distributor council and former ECIA board member. Chris has also served as an EDS board member for six years and ascended to board chair for 2022-23. After his successor Chuck Tanzola’s unexpected passing, Chris generously stepped in again as chair for 2024 and oversaw the EDS transition from the Mirage to Resorts World. Melanie Pizzey?– Like Dawn Manhart, Mel has also been one of our longest serving members, more than 10 years as GIPC member and leader, and recently serving as TTI's representative to the Global Distribution Forum. Mel is a former Executive Conference Chair and has contributed to ECIA, and formerly NEDA for two decades. It is with great pleasure that ECIA announces Phil Gallagher, CEO of Avnet, as this year's recipient of its highest annual honor, the North Star Award. "This prestigious accolade celebrates individuals whose unwavering commitment, exceptional leadership, and tireless dedication have significantly impacted the field of electronic components and the ECIA community,” ECIA President and CEO David Loftus explained during the award ceremony at the ECIA Executive Conference. “It is with great honor that we present this award to Phil Gallagher, an exceptional leader, whose dedication goes far beyond the success of his own company. As a highly outgoing and approachable CEO, he fosters an inclusive environment where collaboration thrives.
