The Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA) is the voice of America's competitive power suppliers.
关于我们
The Electric Power Supply Association is the voice of America's competitive power suppliers, working to bring customers the benefits of energy competition. Our member companies own and operate nearly 150,000 megawatts of power generation capacity from a diverse set of resources including natural gas, wind, solar, nuclear, and coal. They’re the owners of power generation plants and storage technologies that convert resources into electricity and store it for use when needed—and they compete to sell that energy to utilities, homes, and businesses at the lowest possible cost.

?? Powering the Future: How Competitive Generators Are Meeting Surging Electricity Demand With AI, data centers, and economic growth driving record-high electricity demand, competitive power providers are stepping up with major investments in new generation capacity, grid upgrades, and clean energy. Here’s how EPSA member companies are making an impact: ?Alpha Generation & LS Power are adding 1,150 MW of dispatchable power across PJM Interconnection states to support reliability. ? NRG Energy is launching a 5 GW joint venture with GE Vernova and acquiring six Texas power plants to strengthen its portfolio. ? LS Power has energized Orchard Substation in California, home to the largest STATCOM in North America, boosting grid stability. ? Invenergy secured a key permit for a 260 MW wind project in South Dakota and continues investing in local communities. ? ECP (Energy Capital Partners) was named Fund Manager of the Year, recognizing its leadership in critical energy infrastructure. As electricity demand surges, private investment and innovation are crucial for a reliable and affordable #energy future -- keeping the risk of investment off of ratepayers. ?? ? ? Reliable #energy en route. EPSA member companies Alpha Generation and LS Power are among the 94 applicants in line to bring 26.6 GW of new dispatchable power generation capacity to PJM Interconnection states via the RRI. These critical projects will help meet rising demand from data centers and manufacturing to help boost America's economic growth as grid operators raise reliability concerns. Competitive electricity markets unlock private investment, encouraging lower cost options, and keeping the risk of building infrastructure off of consumers and captive ratepayers. #electricity #powermarkets #MeetTheMoment #RRI
PJM’s Reliability Resource Initiative has attracted 94 applications totaling 26.6 GW of nameplate capacity. Of these projects, 47 involve uprates, in which existing resources are modified to generate more electricity, and 47 propose building new generation. The proposed projects represent new build and uprates of nuclear and natural gas, as well as new battery storage. The Reliability Resource Initiative (RRI) is a one-time opportunity for shovel-ready resources that can come online quickly and most effectively contribute to reliability. PJM will now use a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission -approved rating process to select up to 50 projects. This will provide an influx of reliable generation needed to help meet demand growth, in tandem with those resources that are already in our generation interconnection queue. The RRI projects will be studied in Transition Cycle #2 (TC2) of the new interconnection process along with about 550 other projects totaling about 50 GW in nameplate capacity. Final agreements for TC2 projects are scheduled to be completed in late 2026. Adding RRI projects to TC2 is key to bringing additional capacity to the PJM markets before 2030, when PJM anticipates resource adequacy concerns. ?? "Just Win Baby": Ohio Leaders Talk Energy Growth, Reliability, and Consumer Costs EPSA President and CEO Todd Snitchler joined Ohio energy and business experts this week at the Columbus Metropolitan Club to discuss competition, reliability, and growth in Ohio’s energy sector. As Ohio and other states look to meet rising energy demand while addressing cost and reliability concerns, and attract economic development from data centers, manufacturers, and other large energy users, panelists looked at the current landscape and tackled key questions. Todd highlighted that when it comes to building power plants, “Competitive generators keep the risk off of captive customers and put it on the shareholders and investors.” ?? Today I enjoyed healthy discussion facilitated by the Columbus Metropolitan Club surrounding Ohio’s #energy needs from a diverse set of voices. It was an enlightening discussion on Ohio’s position to support larger manufacturer and data center needs, given the large influx of both specifically to Central Ohio. At the same time, costs considerations to the end user must be accounted for in a growing metropolitan like Columbus. Table discussions revealed that One Columbus can’t be successful without the aid of all of the Central Ohio suburbs to think as one team. It’s exciting to see Ohio policy makers developing?energy legislation that wisely leverages the power of competition to address the growing demand for energy.?Kudos to Todd Snitchler and EPSA for their leadership and encourage reading the full testimony to understand “how and why” this legislation makes sense.?As Todd so aptly put it ”SB 2 wisely acknowledges that competitive suppliers are best suited to respond nimbly and efficiently to this new market need”. And for a broader and deeper understanding of the value of competitive markets in the energy industry, a must read is Devin Hartman’s fantastic article in the National Review, "How to Liberate Electric Power". https://lnkd.in/gAqJpNps Devin outlines how “ policymakers need to understand the nature of power-demand growth, advance competitive markets for power supply, improve regulatory effectiveness for power delivery, and cut red tape for all forms of power-system infrastructure.” Thank you Devin! #EPSA #Ohio #energy #nationalreview #Rstreet #NRG #competivemarkets #REAL #retailenergy
