The Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA) is the voice of America's competitive power suppliers.
关于我们
The Electric Power Supply Association is the voice of America's competitive power suppliers, working to bring customers the benefits of energy competition. Our member companies own and operate nearly 150,000 megawatts of power generation capacity from a diverse set of resources including natural gas, wind, solar, nuclear, and coal. They’re the owners of power generation plants and storage technologies that convert resources into electricity and store it for use when needed—and they compete to sell that energy to utilities, homes, and businesses at the lowest possible cost.

?? EPSA staff attended this week's NARUC Winter Policy Summit -- the largest ever, drawing over 2,200 attendees from across the energy industry, policy, and regulatory space! EPSA President and CEO Todd Snitchler spoke on a panel addressing "Markets and the Energy Expansion" -- how competitive wholesale electricity markets can continue their successes on attracting capital and investment needed to meet rising energy demand and serve new large loads like data centers and advanced manufacturing. Carolyn Comer of Shell Energy, an EPSA member company, also participated on the panel along with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Commissioner David Rosner, American Clean Power Association (ACP)'s Carrie Zalewski, and NYISO's Rich Dewey, moderated by Commissioner Kelsey Bagot of the Virginia State Corporation Commission. Emphasizing the need for regulatory certainty and stability to plan long term, high capital projects, Todd noted that market competition delivers significant benefits. ? “Competitive markets shift financial risk away from consumers and onto private investors, where it belongs. This ensures that customers aren’t burdened with the costs of failed investments.” ? “Markets have delivered remarkably well across the footprint—whether in affordability, reliability, or emissions reductions.” ? “People have adjusted to the new normal of lower electricity prices, but those cost savings are real and significant. Competitive markets have been key in driving those reductions.” Many thanks to NARUC and staff for organizing another great event! #NARUCWinter25 #energypolicy #powermarkets

“The challenges are getting bigger.” As #energy demand surges, investment in generation and infrastructure is more critical than ever. But as EPSA President and CEO Todd Snitchler points out, uncertainty is making it difficult to commit the capital the grid needs. Markets must evolve to balance investment risk with reliability.
