Hydrogen will play a crucial role in reaching climate neutrality in Europe by 2050 by decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors and combining environmental advantages with security of supply. We’re excited to take another significant step towards Germany’s hydrogen future by selecting Electric Hydrogen as our exclusive partner for the design of a 200 MW #electrolyzer plant for large-scale electrolysis. This state-of-the-art facility will be part of our #GreenWilhelmshaven project in Northern Germany, transforming the site of a former coal-fired power plant into a hub for green energy. The electrolyzer, powered by renewable wind energy, will produce zero-carbon green hydrogen for industrial customers in sectors like chemicals, steel, and transport. What makes this partnership stand out is Electric Hydrogen’s advanced proton exchange membrane (PEM) technology, which offers low-cost, integrated solutions to make large-scale hydrogen production efficient and viable. Their innovation complements our vision to decarbonize industries while ensuring secure and affordable energy supplies. “We aim to drive the efforts to decarbonize German and European industry. Uniper has announced Electric Hydrogen as its exclusive partner to design a 200MW electrolyzer plant for its Green Wilhelmshaven project in Germany. Electric Hydrogen was selected for its advanced PEM technology and fully integrated system design which achieves the lowest cost of green hydrogen possible. Electric Hydrogen’s 100MW Plants are available for deployment in Europe in 2026. “We’re excited to begin work on this project with Electric Hydrogen, in whom we have found a partner who understands our goals and supports our vision,” said Susanne Th?le, Director of Hydrogen for Uniper. As I begin my senior year at Columbia Engineering, I would like to reflect on a wonderful summer as a New Product Integration Intern at Electric Hydrogen! Working on the fabrication and assembly of EH2's flagship 100MW plant was a great experience and helped me to develop my skills in manufacturing, design, and materials analysis. This was the perfect program for me to transition from college into my career in ClimateTech; I am very grateful and excited for the next chapter!
