Today General Dynamics Electric Boat shipbuilders bid farewell to Kevin Graney as he starts his retirement. On behalf of the 24,000 shipbuilders of #GDElectricBoat, we thank Kevin for inspiring, teaching and leading our team of the world’s best shipbuilders. Your passion and dedication to #shipbuilding has and will continue to reinforce the importance of our mission as we welcome Mark Rayha into his new role as EB president. One of the largest events in Mystic is the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce Lighted Boat Parade. This is scheduled, as always, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We have a special announcement regarding the event - The Lighted Boat Parade, through a special arrangement with WFSB TV, will be broadcast live on their sister station The Wax and online on WFSB+. A big congratulations to General Dynamics Electric Boat’s Jacob Moreau, a recipient of the #NavalSubmarineLeague’s 2024 Workforce Star Award, which acknowledges outstanding #trades personnel for their contributions to the construction of submarines and the submarine industrial base. Jacob joined the #GDElectricBoat team in 2016, installing exterior treatments that provide our submarines with stealth and advantage. He graduated our Carpenter Apprenticeship Program and became a lead linesman, helping take precise measurements for critical submarine components. Now supporting the Columbia-class submarine program, Jacob has been involved in the design and operation of a new transfer car system, used to move submarines on land level, and is supporting the training curriculum for carpenters who will use the system to support Columbia work. Congratulations, Jacob!

General Dynamics Electric Boat the Boat Next Gen Nights 2 and 3 at Westerly Education Center. Last week Westbrook High School students learned Sheet Metal fabrication skills while they created cell phone holders on Night 2 and learned electrical skills on Night 3. Night 2 included using the break, shear, pneumatic drill press, deburring tools, scribes, rivet guns, and reading a blue print. Night 3 included cutting, stripping, and joining wire to create an electric circuit to power a small motor. Students used wire strippers, crimpers, junction boxes, wire nuts, barrel connectors, and multimeters. Students are having a blast and becoming more familiar with skills needed for the building of our nation's Virginia and Columbia class submarines. #youthworkforcedevelopment
