We are proud to announce that Marc Allen has joined Electra as our new CEO! Marc brings experience from his distinguished career at Boeing, where he most recently served as Chief Strategy Officer and SVP for Strategy and Corporate Development. He guided Boeing’s $5 billion customer finance business before spending nearly a decade on Boeing's Executive Council, where he served as President of Boeing International. As head of all venture businesses, Marc led the restructuring and full acquisition of Wisk Aero, serving as Chairman and focusing on the future of autonomous flight. Under Marc’s leadership, Electra will introduce direct aviation with our Ultra Short aircraft – bringing air travel closer to where we live, work, and play without airports, emissions, or noise. As Marc shared, "Leading Electra at this pivotal moment is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. My passion has always been about building, coaching, and inspiring high-performing teams. I’m excited to join Electra’s first-rate team and help define the next level of air travel connectivity." “Marc’s exceptional background makes him the ideal choice to guide Electra into its next phase of growth. Electra already has the strongest technical team in the business – and now we have the finance, legal, and operations experience to match,” remarked John Langford, Electra’s Chairman and CEO since founding the company in 2020. “I’m excited to have him as a partner on our journey to electrify aviation.” ?John will continue to serve as Chairman. We’re excited for the future under Marc’s guidance and look forward to achieving new heights together! Read the announcement at https://bit.ly/3z6t2IL

A thoughtful article from The Wall Street Journal and Sean Captain on the promise of hybrid-electric aviation, highlighting Electra's Ultra Short aircraft. Our Ultra Short is built for the electric future, defining the next level of connectivity through air travel without airports, emissions or noise. Learn more in the article below.
It’s fun when reporting leads someplace you didn’t expect. In researching electric planes, we realized that hybrids could be a booming industry, promising the same bridge to a greener future that #hybrid cars have. A Prius in the sky, you might say. Electra.aero's EL-2 Goldfinch aircraft recently made history as the first piloted electric aircraft to fly at NASA’s legendary Langley Research Center. The filght was one of several demo flights for Electra's partners of our hybrid-electric short takeoff and landing (#eSTOL) technology demonstrator aircraft. During the flight, NASA Langley’s research community witnessed the remarkable capabilities of our eSTOL aircraft, which utilizes distributed electric propulsion with blown lift technology, enabling takeoff and landing in under 150 feet. Earlier that day, the Goldfinch completed a 120-mile cross-country flight from our Manassas, VA facility to NASA in Hampton, VA, showcasing the efficiency of our hybrid propulsion system. We are proud to collaborate with NASA on pioneering advanced aviation technologies, aiming to make seamless, convenient air travel accessible to all communities. https://lnkd.in/eBGUd2Gk #AdvancedAirMobility #SustainableAviation #NASA #AerospaceInnovation NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration Manassas Regional Airport

We are thrilled to announce that Electra.aero has partnered with Honeywell Aerospace Technologies to supply flight control and actuation systems for our 9-passenger hybrid-electric #eSTOL production aircraft. Honeywell Ventures has also made a strategic financial investment in Electra. The compact size and lighter weight of Honeywell’s technology is an ideal fit for our eSTOL aircraft. Honeywell’s investment and expertise will play a crucial role in bringing our innovative aircraft to life, which can take off and land in tight spaces with minimal infrastructure, making air travel more efficient and accessible.? ? “Honeywell Aerospace has seamlessly integrated best-in-class and mature flight control technologies which we believe will be a game changer for making safer, more affordable, and sustainable aircraft, ultimately enabling air travel without the airports,” said JP Stewart, Electra’s VP and General Manager. ?? Together, we're excited to redefine the possibilities of air travel! #SustainableAviation #AdvancedAirMobility #RegionalAirMobility #Aviation #Innovation?

Electra.aero has successfully completed off-runway grass field test flights of our EL-2 Goldfinch hybrid #eSTOL aircraft. These test flights proved our aircraft’s ability to operate from minimally prepared fields smaller than 300 ft, with a maximum performance climb-out of 32 degrees, and an impressively quiet 55-decibel overflight at 500 feet. At typical cruise altitudes, Goldfinch is inaudible over background noise. This dual-use technology is perfect for Agile Combat Employment and expeditionary missions, offering fuel efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and minimal environmental impact. Small, affordable, runway-independent eSTOL aircraft could also alleviate demand on larger, few-in-number, high performance fixed wing and rotorcraft platforms in a contested logistics environment. ?
