As part of a NIDA-funded study, they're offering FREE training in a new online professional training opportunity in a leading evidence-based practice: Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT). This training is ideal for people currently in a counselor-related profession working with, or interested in working with, people and families impacted by substance use disorders. ?? International Overdose Awareness Day | August 31st This year, we’ve seen a hopeful drop in overdose-related deaths by 3%—that’s over 4,000 lives saved! ?? But the battle isn’t over; we still lose over 100,000 lives each year. Every effort counts in the fight against this crisis. Here’s how you can help reduce the risk of overdose: ?? Know What You’re Using: Fentanyl, a powerful opioid, is often mixed with other drugs without users' knowledge. Stay informed about what you’re consuming. ?? Use Narcan: Naloxone (Narcan) can reverse 93% of opioid overdoses. Keep a kit on hand and know how to use it. ?? Don’t Mix: Combining opioids, alcohol, and benzodiazepines increases the risk of overdose. Avoid using these substances together to protect yourself. ??♂? Don't Use Alone: Always having someone nearby in the case of accidental overdose increases the chance that a person can use Narcan to reverse the overdose and save a life. ????
