Nutrition lays the foundation for a healthy pregnancy. For pregnant women, that means getting the right vitamins and minerals to support their health and their baby’s development. Multiple micronutrient supplements, or MMS, are comprehensive prenatal vitamins and one of the most cost-effective ways to improve maternal nutrition. A single tablet contains 15 essential vitamins and minerals that are critical during pregnancy. The global momentum for introducing and scaling up MMS is at a tipping point and governments in dozens of countries have made it a priority but need more support from the international community. The #N4GParis Summit is a chance to strengthen support for MMS and reach more women with essential nutrition.

Published today the International Development Select Committee’s enquiry into the Government's work towards SDG2 - Zero Hunger, led by Sarah Champion MP, lays out a clear roadmap for action—one the UK Government must follow. At the Eleanor Crook Foundation, we strongly support the report’s recommendations, particularly its call for a ￡50 million commitment to the Child Nutrition Fund to scale up life-saving interventions, including Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Foods (RUTFs) and multiple micronutrient supplements (MMS). Malnutrition isn’t just a health crisis—it’s an economic, security, and development issue. Without urgent investment, millions of children will continue to suffer the devastating effects of undernutrition, holding back progress on global stability, education, and prosperity. With the Nutrition for Growth summit on the horizon, this is a critical moment for the UK to: ? Make a bold, well-targeted financial pledge—leveraging public, private, and philanthropic investment. ? Sustain long-term funding for nutrition—avoiding harmful disruptions that put lives at risk. ? Strengthen support for RUTFs and MMS—ensuring predictable funding for these proven interventions. ? Lead international coordination—driving global progress towards Zero Hunger (SDG2). As the report highlights, hunger fuels conflict, and conflict fuels hunger.
