Excited to share a new initiative we have started this school year- Parent Empowerment Workshops! The workshops will be on a variety of topics ranging from advocating for your student to financial literacy to preventing sexual abuse. We held our first workshop in August and it was a huge success! Led by our Clinical Therapist, Rebeca Carpenter, as well as community members with expertise in the specific topics, these workshops are intended to equip parents with the knowledge and skills to better support their families.

Join us in welcoming Rebeca Carpenter, LCSW, to the El Cuerpo team! ?? Rebeca was born in El Salvador and moved to Wilmington as a high school student 30+ years ago. She is married to her husband of 27 years and has three daughters. She holds a BA in Psychology, a Master’s in Social Work, and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Rebeca’s passion is devoted to working with the Latino community, providing trauma informed mental health therapy that is person-centered and strength based.

One of the unique aspects of our medical clinic is that it is intentionally a one-stop location. Patients can see a provider, have labs drawn, meet with our social workers and receive health education for a recent chronic diagnosis (like diabetes or hypertension) all on-site. We are almost entirely staffed by incredible volunteers that use their expertise and skills to serve our community!
