Amazon Web Services (AWS) Lambda Event Source Mapping Metrics Now Available in Elastic Observability The newly released CloudWatch metrics for Lambda Event Source Mappings (ESM) close a significant visibility gap in serverless observability. Teams can now track the complete lifecycle of events from sources (SQS, Kinesis, DynamoDB) through Lambda processing. Key metrics now can be visible in Elastic Observability with this announcement: - PolledEventCount: Events read from source - InvokedEventCount: Lambda invocations - FilteredOutEventCount: Events blocked by filters - FailedInvokeEventCount: Invocation failures - DeletedEventCount: SQS cleanup confirmation - DroppedEventCount: Event expiration tracking - OnFailureDestinationDeliveredEventCount: Failure routing Common use cases this solves: - Tracing lost events in Lambda pipelines - Measuring filter effectiveness - Debugging event processing failures - Monitoring retry patterns Elastic Observability automatically ingests these metrics. Travis Thompson joined the military at 19 years old. For the next 11 years he was in the U.S. Air Force working in Special Operations as a Combat Controller, where he was responsible for all aspects of air to ground communications and integration. Today, he uses many of the same skills from his time in the military — communication, integration, problem-solving — in his role on our renewals team. Travis initially joined Elastic through Skillbridge, an internship program for those transitioning out of the military, and is now a Renewals team lead for the Americas and Public Sector region. Travis epitomizes our Customer, 1st Source Code tenet. “The world is all about people, or more specifically, our tribe. Customer, 1st is important to me, and I align with it," he shares. "When I am speaking to my customers I truly want to get to know them as people. I want them to get to know me. I believe it's important to know the people you work with, as business is deeper than just a transactional relationship. Tribe builds trust.” Travis attributes much of his success to his mindset. He loves a challenge, both personal and professional, and he brings our Humble, Ambitious Source Code tenet to life in everything he does. “I know that I can teach myself anything and the same goes with my employees or the teams that I'm on.
