To create and implement impactful changes, everyone needs a seat at the table. This year, we’re pulling up a chair on behalf of farmers- the original environmentalist. In 1995, the world gathered for the first-ever Conference of the Parties (COP) to confront a growing climate challenge. Fast forward 29 years and COP has become the ultimate platform for global climate action, with over 70,000 attendees. At COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, Katie Cook, VP of Livestock Sustainability and Farm Animal Marketing, joined livestock industry leaders to talk about how agriculture, especially livestock, is part of the climate solution. But it was more than a discussion, it was a call to action. As the world falls behind on goals to reduce warming, the livestock industry stands ready to act now with proven tools and interventions, innovative solutions with all stakeholders and public-private collaboration. Joining Katie were Ruaraidh Petre, Executive Director, Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef; Gonzalo Becona, Coordinator, Articulation and Communication for Environment, National Agricultural Research Institute – INIA; Gilles Froment, President of International Dairy Federation; and Donald Moore, Executive Director Global Dairy Platform. #WeAreElanco #COP29 #SustainableAgriculture

Is it too soon to say Merry Christmas? Not if Merry Christmas is an itchy dog (or you enjoy yuletide salutations). This year Merry Christmas has something to be thankful for- itch relief. Just like Trooper and other dogs suffering from allergic itch. In fact, there are about 17 million of them in the US. It’s a top reason pet owners bring their dogs to the vet(1). Now with Zenrelia? (ilunocitinib tablets), there is a new solution for canine allergic dermatitis that is effective, safe and given just once a day. 13-year old Merry Christmas can finally reach for zen this holiday season. Superbugs may be fighting dirty, but we can have them outnumbered. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a critical, complex issue that transcends human and animal health. That’s why we work with leaders across the One Health Spectrum to develop long-term, responsible solutions. Throughout the year, we work with international institutions including universities, global health organizations, veterinary medicine professionals and farm animal producers’ associations to conduct seminars and laboratory training. In addition, we continue to develop solutions that result is reducing the need for antibiotic use in animals such as vaccines and nutritional health products. These superbugs won’t go down without a fight, but together with a One Health mindset, we’re prepared to fight back. Learn more about what were doing to combat AMR on the Responsible Use of Medicines in Agriculture (RUMA) Alliance podcast with Prof. Shabbir Simjee, Chief Medical Officer: https://bit.ly/4hXtHOz #WeAreElanco #WAAW #AMR #AntibioticAwareness #OneHealth #AnimalHealth #Innovation

Cats may have nine lives, but feline diabetes can spend them all. Approximately 600,000 cats in the U.S. will be diagnosed with diabetes in their lifetime(1) and research shows 125,000 cats go untreated(2) making them susceptible to weight loss, loss of appetite, vomiting, dehydration, severe depression, problems with motor function, coma, and even death. Traditional treatments require needs and frequent dosing changes leading to one in 10 pets being euthanized after diagnosis.(3) However, with our breakthrough treatment, Bexacat? (bexagliflozin tablets), the first and only needle-free, insulin-free, oral tablet feline diabetes treatment for otherwise healthy cats not previously treated with insulin, pet owners have an easy-to-give option to treat this disease. #PetDiabetesMonth #DiabetesMonth #WeAreElanco (1) Feline Diabetes | Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine (2) Elanco Animal Health. Consider this a wake-up call, not last call. The latest United Nations Emissions Gap report found that current climate policies will result in global temperatures rising more than 3 degrees Celsius by the end of the century. The good news is there is still time to course correct. And that’s what will be the focus during the COP29 event happening now in Azerbaijan. During COP29, nations will gather to discuss how we can continue to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including within the livestock industry. Members of our team, including Katie Cook, VP of livestock sustainability, will be on-site to lead panels and discussions about the current work the livestock industry is doing and what needs to be done in the future. While the UN Emissions Gap report is a warning, it’s not a last call. There’s still time to make an impactful difference and as leaders within the livestock industry, we’re prepared to do our part. #WeAreElanco #COP29 #SustainableAgriculture #HouseOfAgriculture

The livestock industry is part of the sustainability solution. One more time for the people in the back? The livestock industry is part of the sustainability solution. Advocacy is not silent, and this year, we have taken this message to unexpected places including South by Southwest, New York City Climate Week, Reuters Transform Food Summit and - coming up - COP29, the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties. These efforts, combined with others in the livestock industry, are having a powerful impact on consumers as our research shows 71% of U.S. consumers say it’s important that the food they buy is produced sustainably. Additionally, 57% of consumers today say that they view livestock as a solution to climate change; an increase of 8% compared to 2021. Follow along as we continue to take this message far and wide - next up, COP29! #WeAreElanco #SustainableAgriculture #Advocacy

Getting dressed, rolling over in bed, pushing an alarm button, picking something up off the ground. These everyday activities, so often taken for granted, can impact those with disabilities as they become reliant on others to help. Enter the assistance dog. In the Netherlands, we partner with KNGF Geleidehonden in their mission to provide highly trained guide dogs to people with disabilities. Through this partnership, our team volunteers in various capacities depending on the current needs of the dogs and organization. The local team also provides worm, flea and tick treatments for the puppies during their first year. At a recent event, the team heard from a participant who was recently paired with an assistance dog, enabling her to go out again and be less dependent on others. The dog brought independence and she “got my life back.” #WeAreElanco

Think of the One Health concept like a giant Jenga tower. Pull out one piece – human, animal or environmental health – and the whole thing gets wobbly. We focus on making life better for animals, because we know that makes life better for all. This concept has driven our innovation for the last decade and will continue to be what pushes us to break boundaries. But these components are connected, so animal health innovators can’t work alone. We need collaboration across all sectors. That’s why earlier this year, along with Purdue University, we announced the plans for the One Health Innovation District as part of our new global headquarters in downtown Indianapolis. A place where innovators can get access to state-of-the-art resources to help bring solutions to some of the world’s most pressing issues facing people, animals and the environment. Together we can shore up the Jenga tower one innovation at a time. #WeAreElanco #OneHealthDay
