Our restorative justice staff and partners remind us that healing, accountability, and community are the keys to real justice. As we celebrate #RestorativeJusticeWeek, let's reflect on what it means to move beyond punishment. When we embrace restorative practices, we can create pathways for repair, transformation, and lasting change—building a justice system that fosters growth and healing for all.

EJUSA's mission is to transform the justice system by promoting responses to violence that break cycles of trauma.
关于我们
Equal Justice USA (EJUSA) is a national organization working to transform the justice system to one that heals and restores lives. We imagine a justice system that is the solution instead of the problem, and we believe that we won’t get there solely by dismantling the parts of our justice system that are broken. We must also strengthen and scale the elements that work and build the system we want in its place: one that prevents violence, heals trauma, helps people harmed by crime to rebuild their lives, creates genuine accountability instead of mass incarceration, and treats everyone fairly and equitably in the process. Our work includes ending the death penalty, strengthening programs that help crime survivors address trauma and rebuild their lives, and promoting trauma-informed responses to violence that can save lives and help heal communities. We partner with state and local organizations to provide grassroots leaders with the training, leadership development, and support they need to win campaigns and have lasting impact. While the Seabrooks-Washington Crisis Response Act deserves recognition, many issues have delayed progress in responding to mental health crises in New Jersey. The tragic deaths of Najee Seabrooks, Drew Washington, and Victoria Lee highlight the consequences of inaction. There is no time to waste—we must prioritize community-based mental health responses to prevent further harm. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gSpuyJ6E

Today, we honor the lives of transgender people lost to violence. The criminalization of non-conformity continues to harm those most vulnerable. As we reflect, we recognize the urgent need to create a future where everyone—regardless of gender identity—can live authentically, safely, and without fear. It’s essential that we continue advocating for a world that upholds dignity, equality, and justice for all. #TransgenderDayofRemembrance

Restorative justice isn't about punishment—it's about understanding harm, building relationships, and creating spaces for healing. At Equal Justice USA, we work with communities across the country to facilitate conversations that can transform conflict into accountability and healing. Our toolkit is helping local organizations implement restorative justice diversion programs, offering a restorative alternative to the traditional juvenile legal system. Are you ready to start the conversation? Join us in shifting the paradigm of justice. ?? https://lnkd.in/ejmJyCqa #RestorativeJusticeWeek #Healing #EJUSA

Around this time last year, we welcomed four incredible team members—and recently welcomed two more! It's been a transformative journey filled with meaningful conversations, moments of growth, and plenty of joy along the way. As we reflect on the year, we're deeply grateful for the memories we've created together. Here’s to another year of building stronger communities, fostering accountability, and pushing for a justice system that centers healing over punishment. Let’s continue this journey together! #RestorativeJusticeWeek

This weekend's violence in Louisiana was truly awful. Josie Alexander is working with our allies right now to help bring healing to the communities and organizations that need it so badly right now. We are sending healing and light to everyone.
