The Demo Company has nearly completed the razing of the east side annex of the Fort Worth Convention Center. The demolition of the annex allows Commerce Street to be straightened, creating a multi-block development site between Commerce and Calhoun streets. The City of Fort Worth is moving forward with plans to engage Arlington-based Con-Real, LLC as a master developer for city-owned parcels. A 600-1,000-room flagship hotel, parking facilities, and retail spaces to support the Convention Center and Texas A&M Fort Worth campus are the preferred uses for the property. Con-Real’s experience include the Arlington Entertainment District, convention center renovations in Dallas and Irving, and renovation of State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Simultaneously, Phase I of the new convention center’s construction is moving along. That project consists of a new southeast entrance to the building and will set the rhythm for the rest of the Commerce St facade of the center as construction moves north over the former annex section.? Last week our CEO Eugene Walker Jr. was honored to help award one of Desoto High School's bright young stars with the SIU Carbondale Chancellor's Scholarship! It isn't everyday that you get the opportunity to help shape and impact the younger generation, and its an even rarer occasion when you can do it as an alumnus. We are wishing Jaiden the best of luck as he begins his journey with SIU Carbondale!
