Shri Vishal Dev, Principal Secretary E&IT, and Shri Manas Panda, Special Secretary E&IT, met Shri Sridhar Vembu, founder and former CEO, Zoho, at the company’s headquarters in Chennai. The discussion encompassed a wide range of areas, from the significance of R&D and India’s semiconductor ambitions to the opportunities opened up by AI in today’s world. Shri Vembu shared his vision for India, highlighting the importance of geographically equitable growth which can impact the lives of rural communities. Shri Vishal Dev briefed him on the transformation of Odisha’s industrial and IT landscape and assured him of Government of Odisha’s full support in Zoho’s future plans for the state.

Odisha Government and nasscom collaborate to shape the IT Policy for the digital future of Odisha. The Electronics and Information Technology (E&IT) Department, Government of Odisha recently convened a joint discussion session with NASSCOM and key stakeholders from Odisha's IT industry on 14th February 2025. The focus of the session was to gather invaluable feedback and suggestions on the state's upcoming IT Policy. Hon'ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Electronics and IT, and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, emphasized on the government's commitment to supporting the rapidly growing IT sector.?Key initiatives include dedicated Centers of Excellence (CoEs) for R&D and a collaborative CoE with industry leaders and academics to guide IT initiatives. Shri Vishal Dev, Principal Secretary, E&IT Department, highlighted the policy's objective to build a competitive and comprehensive framework, encompassing IT infrastructure, skill development, sustainability, and R&D, to strengthen Odisha's position in the digital economy. The E&IT Department exchanged MoUs with nasscom, Wadhwani Foundation, and Semiconductor Fabless Accelerator Lab (SFAL), Bengaluru. These MoUs will facilitate the Government of Odisha’s efforts to establish an AI Centre of Excellence, provide trainings to government officials in emerging technologies, and ensure successful implementation of the Government’s flagship O-Chip program respectively.

During the Utkarsh Odisha: Make in Odisha Conclave 2025, the E&IT Department organized a panel discussion on the theme ‘ESDM: The Next Frontier Catalyzing Odisha’s Tech Revolution’. The discussion witnessed participation of industry leaders from companies such as Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, and Siemens; Director IIT Bhubaneswar Shri Shreepad Karmalkar, and senior representatives from industrial associations such as IESA and VLSI Society of India.

In a noteworthy initiative, the VLSI Society of India (VSI) & E&IT Dept jointly sponsored 1000 electronics kits for students. Hon’ble Union Minister for Electronics & IT, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw released the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association’s (IESA) report titled, “India Semiconductor Market Report: Analysis, Trends and Forecasts till 2030.” The Hon'ble Minister virtually inaugurated the Silicon Carbide Research Innovation Centre at IIT Bhubaneswar.
