On Wednesday evening, a select group of our professional military aviators did something we practice often in the B-2 but rarely execute, a combat operation. Their mission was enabled by many of our maintainers, planners, protectors, and families; operating under the direction of our inspiring command teams, from right here in Knob Noster. We were released from the cage and the mission was an amazing success. While many parts and details will remain out of the public eye, know that the men and women of Whiteman AFB continue to stand ready and when called, will always perform with the utmost professionalism and respect in defense of our nation. I cannot express my gratitude and pride enough for Team Whiteman, you played like champions and I am truly humbled to serve with each and every one of you. They’re all Aces in my Book. The #Striker Airmen of Whiteman Air Force Base recently concluded their #BomberTaskForce deployment to the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command region, where they had been conducting B-2 Spirit long-range bomber operations and multilateral exercises alongside the Royal Australian Air Force and other Allies, Partners, and Joint Forces. RAF Typhoon aircraft have carried out a training sortie with F-35 Lightning and a US B-1B Lancer bomber over the North Sea. The US B-1B bomber was conducting a long-range nonstop training sortie from the US to mainland Europe and back. During the flight, the Typhoons and the F-35s were part of coordinated intercepts, escort, and rolling handovers of the US Bomber Task Force (BTF) mission on its return transit. They escorted the US bomber over the North Sea as it conducted Air to Air refuelling before returning to the US. This training sortie was part of regular training activities by the RAF with the United States Air Force and our NATO allies, and part of the routine deployment of US BTF aircraft to Europe. It included integration and interoperability training with QRA assets from six out of ten JEF participant nations. Support was launched from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, the UK and HMS Prince of Wales, deployed in the North Atlantic, with F-16s, F-18s, F-35s, Typhoons and Gripens taking part. ISTAR and Search and Rescue also provided by JEF PN, Iceland.
