Do inclusive hospital policies and practices for diverse populations impact patient outcomes? Our recent analysis of six years of data from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS), which measures patient satisfaction with hospital care, and the Healthcare Equality Index (HEI), which measures LGBTQ+ inclusive hospital practices, reveals compelling insights into the relationship between LGBTQ+ inclusive practices and patient satisfaction. Main Findings: 1. HEI participation, regardless of performance, is positively associated with patient satisfaction across all patients. 2. Among participating hospitals, higher HEI performance is linked to greater patient satisfaction. 3. The effect size of participation was stronger than that of performance, indicating that simply participating and being assessed has a significant impact. We’re proud to have supported a new report that uses community action research to address the needs of Latine immigrant youth. Led by Eduardo Burgos Quezada, Mon Ocampo, and Jorge Reyes, the study amplifies youth voices, highlights mental health challenges, and underscores the need for safe spaces to explore identity, including LGBTQIA+ intersectionality. Hosted by the Nationalities Service Center and supported by JUNTOS, Mighty Writers El Futuro, and Puentes de Salud, Philadelphia Health Partnership, and the Stoneleigh Foundation, this research highlights the power of community-driven strategies in creating more effective outcomes for youth well-being. "There's power in the work we've done in the past, we just have to activate it again." -Jose Bauermeister LGBTQ+ communities have always existed and always pushed for equity— innovating solutions beyond systems that were never built for us. Within our neighborhoods and communities, LGBTQ+ people have the power to care for each other and keep one another safe, healthy, and free to live authentically. We’re not waiting for someone to save us— we’re shaping the solutions that reflect our community needs. And no matter what, we’re here to stay.

You don't have to work in healthcare to impact LGBTQ+ health equity. LGBTQ+ people need housing, pursue education, use childcare, and invest in local communities just like anyone else, yet we continue to face unique barriers to equity. Every sector— whether education, tech, finance, or beyond—has a role to play in advancing LGBTQ+ health. The real question is: How does your work impact this community? And how can you drive meaningful change in your sphere of influence?
