It was great to meet with?Andrea Stegher, Vice President of the International Gas Union,?and?Eng. Cav. Khaled Abubakr, upcoming IGU Vice President,?to continue our ongoing discussions on comprehensive #collaboration between?East Mediterranean Gas Forum - EMGF and IGU. Their?passion and drive?are truly inspiring and continue to propel our collective efforts toward a more integrated and #sustainable energy future. I’m pleased that we agreed on?specific steps to enhance our #collaboration in 2025, reinforcing our #commitment to #advancing the industry through stronger partnerships.

On the second day of EGYPES - Egypt Energy Show, Eng. Cav. Khaled Abubakr, Chairman of TAQA Arabia and the Egyptian Gas & Energy Association, expertly moderated a high-level panel discussion on "Building a Balanced and Affordable Energy Mix in Africa." The session featured distinguished panelists, including Dr. Omar farouq Ibrahim, Secretary General of the African Petroleum Producers’ Organization, and Anibor Kragha, Executive Secretary of the African Refiners & Distributors Association. Eng. Abubakr emphasized on three Key points: - Africa is the future of energy, with vast untapped resources and growing demand. - Creating a balanced energy mix is essential to ensure both sustainability and security. - While the Global North is shifting to renewables, phasing out fossil fuels too quickly risks undermining Africa’s energy security. The panel also discussed the importance of a unified regulatory framework for African countries, the need for a clear timeline for implementing targeted projects, and the role of Egypt as a center of excellence in refining, a model that each African country should adopt for its oil & gas sector.
