A busy couple of days for Sasha Berdichevski at the #word+ conference! Great to see some familiar faces too CN Bio ! If you didn't get a chance to catch her at the conference, please feel free to reach out: https://lnkd.in/e-iuM5F2
What an incredible few days at WORD+ 2025 by WORC.Community! The energy, the conversations, and the passion for advancing human-relevant science were truly inspiring. It was fantastic to see how far the field has come with dedicated centres and initiatives like the @NIHR Imperial BRC Organoid Facility, the QMUL Centre for Predictive in vitro Models and Centre for Human Specific Research, and leading the way in developing and expanding the adoption of complex in vitro models. The conference brought together a perfect mix of academia, start-ups, service providers, and pharma, all united by a shared goal: to push the boundaries of drug development and human health while reducing reliance on animal testing. Seeing so many brilliant minds collaborate, share ideas, and spark new connections made it clear—this is how real change happens. It was a pleasure catching up with familiar faces Helena Rannikmae, Pelin Candarlioglu Deacon, Rhiannon David, Stuart Gibb, Aljona Kolmogorova, Ph.D., MBA, Atefeh Mobasseri, Kainat Khan, Ph.D., Edi Tanase, Martin Knight, Hazel Screen, Stefaan Verbruggen, Miles R. and others, and meeting new ones. I left feeling energised and excited for what’s ahead! Looking forward to continuing these important conversations. #MPS #OOC #Organoids #3Rs #DrugDevelopment #Innovation #egtechnology

A busy day for all things #lifesciences at the #JawdropSummit 2025. This year the focus was ‘From Gut to Brain – Tackling Obesity, Dementia, and Beyond.’ The first panel on cracking the obesity code, lead by Professor Gary Frost, (Imperial College London & Melico Sciences Ltd.) was really eye opening. Professor Tricia Tan (Imperial College London & NHS Trust), Chris Edson (Second Nature), Bill Haynes (Novo Nordisk), Matthew Coghlan (Eli Lilly and Company), discussed key developments in nutrition, metabolic health, and the impacts obesity has on overall health. It was particularly interesting to hear thoughts around medicinal treatments for obesity as a ‘disease’ and where this could stray closer to a potentially lesser regulated aesthetics environment. The pitching startups this afternoon have been inspiring, and excellent quality too – I’m looking forward to meeting more of you at the networking this evening! Did you know that only 35% of all students in STEM-related fields of study are women? STEM fields are widely regarded as critical to national economies yet there are still gender disparities in the uptake of these crucial subjects. Today is International Day of Women and Girls in Science - an opportunity to promote full and equal access to (and participation in) science for women and girls and to celebrate the contributions of those who are paving the way for those yet to come. ???????? #IDWGS #InternationalDayofWomenandGirlsinScience
