Exciting news from our sister project,?TIGON! ?? The consortium is gearing up to showcase its groundbreaking software and hardware systems in Spain and France. We’re thrilled to share highlights from the 3rd?partners workshop for?TSO (Transmission System Operator) demonstration, held on October 7, 2024, at?Delft University of Technology! ???? This?event?brought together experts from?Delft University of Technology,?TenneT,?TNO,?European Network for Cyber Security, and?DNV?under the banner of the?groundbreaking?eFORT project, for collaboratively demonstrating prompt and effective responses to complex grid scenarios and enhancing the resilience and security of European power grids. ? Key highlights:? ???Tech Infrastructure:?The?advanced capabilities of the?Control Room of the Future (CRoF) Technology Centre,?featuring tools like Digital Substation, RTDS, DIgSILENT?PowerFactory, Mininet, as well as?the developing algorithms for?risk assessment, self-healing and restoration.??This environment allows for realistic testing and development, driving forward impactful research in grid security and response mechanisms. ?? ???Collaborative Response:?TU Delft,?TNO,?ENCS’s response to cyber incidents and coordinated efforts taken at both the cyber and physical layers. This workshop emphasised several scenarios as vital for demonstrating the resilience and preventing widespread blackouts across the interconnected European power grids. ?? ???Future Demonstration:?This workshop set the plan for integrating the hardware and?software developed by?TNO,?ENCS?to the?Control Room of the Future (CRoF)?at?TU Delft?to showcase the practical applications of cyber-physical resilience actions in safeguarding the power grid operations. ??? The?R2D2 project?hosted the panel session “Resilience Against Natural Disasters and Extreme Weather: Innovations, Applications, and Policies in Power Systems,” at?#MEDPOWER2024?in Athens. This session featured participation from the eFORT project, Διαχειριστ?? Ελληνικο? Δικτ?ου Διανομ?? Ηλεκτρικ?? Εν?ργεια? Α.Ε. HEDNO S.A. Climate Strategy, and #ETIPSNET. With over 50 participants, “the panel was a unique opportunity to bring together experts from industry, academia, and different EU initiatives to discuss the emerging topic of power systems resilience. This is more critical than ever given the increasing impact of climate change-induced extreme weather, raising the topic highly in the agenda of system operators and decision-makers around the globe. The panel provided a holistic view on the topic, making a step forward towards resilient power systems.”, explained Mathaios Panteli from University of Cyprus, partner of R2D2.
